According to the BBC the incident where the Sutton reserve keeper ate a pie is being investigated to see if it breaks gambling rules. The odds were offered by bookies as a laugh but they can't go running to the authority when the bet comes in at 8/1. Just write the loss off that won't be a loss anyway when the publicity is taken into account.

On a side note, he's what I've always pictured Dibble to look like, you know when he was still in decent shape.

Was obvious at the time it was a set up as he leaned forward to make sure he was on camera etc. SunBet was offering the 8/1 so they wont be arsed, its all publicity for them.

The reckon they lost a 5 figure sum to one punter through it. Utter bullshit that they would take a bet of over £1300 on such a novelty bet. Unless the class £100.10 as a 5 figure payout.

It'll be swept under the carpet. The irony is the investigation has given the stunt more publicity. Hopefully the club benefit from it in some way, maybe increased sponsorship next term so they're not under investigation too.

It's all a bit cringeworthy this to honest if I was the Sutton manager or one of the actual players I'd be a bit pissed off with the bloke to be honest as nobody is alking about how well they actually played just this some contrived attention grabbing stunt. Even worse when it's a publicity stunt set up that awful rag.

Who's gonna investigate it, special branch? All this for a pie, it's pathetic the fuss that's being made.
FIFA will be getting involved soon, there's an irony.

In my opinion these stupid 'novelty markets' are just asking to be abused.

Quotes you didn't expect to read from Football Managers no987;

"The team were magnificent against Arsenal, but to think someone's openly eating a pie behind them reflects very much away from what they did. I know Wayne regrets it, he is very, very sorry about the whole situation."

A 20 clem gadgie never regrets eating a pie. He's still picking bits of knuckle out of his teeth.

Brilliant quote. Love the idea that 'openly eating a pie' makes the whole thing worse. It's like he usually necks pies furtively, slyly or even discreetly and that's OK.

Nathan Luscombe used to blend three steak and kidney to a liquid pulp before every match and drink them from a Lucozade Sport bottle on the bench without anyone suspecting a thing. The problem was Coral always refused to pay out.
