Our David wanted 'embarrassment' but sold out so I got Baggy Trousers!!!!
Tracey - Super Trooper - Abba
Mark - Doo Doo Doo Da Da Da (which was good as he had a stutter as a kid)!!!!
Lee - Kings of the Wild Frontier - Adam & The Ants
David - Stop The Calvary - Jona Louie (only cos he couldn't get Embarrasment....sold out)!!!!

I think the above is correct....if not blame Boots when they sold singles for 99p!!!!

Single: Tommy Jones & the Shondells: Crimson & Clover

Albums (got 3 at once for a new record player): Led Zep 1, Spooky Tooth - Spooky Two, Moody Blues - On The Threshold Of a Dream.

After a couple of weeks I took the Moody Blues record back to Binns in Hartlepool and swapped it for something else - it was shit. Said it had a fault and didn't play properly. I must have done that about 20 times - they never seemed to mind!

1st single - Under The Moon of Love by Showaddywaddy

1st album - The Beatles. Forget the name but it was the one that keeps getting reissued of their Hamburg recordings.

Xmas box Love is a many splendid thing / the four aces and Rock around the clock/ Bill Haley. Yes you had to wind the gramophone up then and change the needle for every record.

January - Pilot. Awful dirge but my little sister wanted it for her birthday.

Album was Once Upon A Star by Bay City Rollers for my girlyfriend. That must have been around the long hot summer of '76.

The first album I remember buying was Showaddywaddy - Red Star, I think. First single I remember buying was Dollar - Give me back my Heart, although the first single I remember getting was off my Great Aunt, Brotherhood of Man - Save all your Kisses for me.

I do remember by the record counter in Boots in Bishop they had a bargain bin, where I made my pocket money go further with records and tapes!

I had quite a few Top of the Pops albums too, can't remember if the songs were by the original artists though?

Never bothered with singles although I remember my parents buying me Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter Paul & Mary somewhere near York Road.

"Two Little Boys" Rolf Harris, Xmas 1969.

Can't remember which album but it will have been one of the later Beatles on vinyl.

Me Dad had a Triumph Herald with an 8-track cartridge player in and I can remember that more than records for a big chunk of the early 70s! Awful things, like a giant Cassette Tape. We had "Abbey Rd" and things like Creedence Clearwater Revival, plus those "Motown Chartbuster" comps.

First album, "Beatles for Sale". Actually, I only owned 50% as I shared the cost with my brother. It was also a reel to reel tape as we only had a tape recorder. We used to record "Thank Your Lucky Stars" and "Ready, Steady, Go!" by shoving the mic against the TV speaker (14", black and white, two channels). The recordings were usually ruined by me mam coming in saying "is there any more pots in here?", although one Beatles performance was ruined by me dad saying "do you want whole nut or fruit and nut" one boxing day. First single was "Voices in the Sky" by the Moody Blues, not their finest hour but it did have a nice flute solo.
