People read far too much into what managers say before and after games and take things literrally. Ronnie Moore got slaughtered for constantly calling out and blaming the players plus publicly criticising individuals and bulling up opposition. Jones isn't daft he probably sees a very young team low on confidence, the 2nd half was obviously better than the first he's got to use that positively as he's got very little else to work with. Are we really going to start ridiculing a manager who's been here five minutes and one of least accountable people for the mess the club and squad is in?

The mess we find ourselves in has nothing to do with the manager. The best in the world would not achieve anything with what we have available! You can't polish a turd as they say!

I'm sure Jones realises this squad is incredibly poor but he's obviously trying to give them some confidence.

He really said that?!

Fucking hell!

As an aside, Plymouth -2 is 8/1 tomorrow.

You can even have odds against just for a Plymouth win, got to be value, maybe the odds compilers have just been listening to Jones instead of actually watching us play.

Well, I bottled on the Yeovil game - the first time I can remember not going to a game with no real excuse (like illness, family death or whatever) - and I didn't go because I was so annoyed/ depressed after the Friday night 'Dave, what's your fave parmo?' session.

Today I will go - but I can't ever recall not wanting to go so much! Am I getting to the 'there are more interesting things to do' moment? Am I getting to a point where I just don't care anymore? And I say that as someone who (until now) could not understand how anyone, after decades of support, could lose interest. I've sorted out my trip to the Orient game and am now struggling to respond to questions like,'couldn't you think of some other way to waste Easter?' I need help!

So Pools, come on and deliver - at least a decent performance against what will be a strong team!

My prediction:
0 - 0 at half time - a heartening performance
Then, two defensive slips, two goals and the floodgates open - the game ending 4 - 0.

To whom? Could we just do it? Just this once?

Yes Nurse, sorry, I'll leave the keyboard alone and get my pills.................

With the remaining cash, an island will be made off Seaton akin to palm island in dubai for the fillum stars coming to hartle wood to set up home.

I can see in my mind this 'island' we can call it Cox Island..... It's starts with two small islands connected and running parallel to the shore with a longer pier like island between them pointing out to sea. It's the future.

you have forgot to add the most important part this Island can be a Tax Haven, for the rich and famous who have never heard of Hartlepool, or the North East of England.

Can any of us complain if Lincoln City replace Pools in division 2?

It's the 'goals against' column that's the problem. If the defence doesn't improve, we're dead meat!

First 25 thought we were on for a hammering, no leadership at all at the back or in midfield, we've looked a lot better since the goal but defence still looks dodgy - not necessarily any individuals fault, it's the lack of leaders.... If Harrison or Walker can channel Gary Strodder we might just get out of this with three points, a nervous second half awaits though....

Coxall has probably sold part of the subs bench and not got a loan bench in to replace it yet.

Need to ping the plans to the Premier League players - any Scandinavian players will surely take the chance of being closer to home. Can we raise enough for a runway and first class departure lounge?

Really enjoyed it today. Nice to see a bit of fight and desire. Crowd got behind the lads more than I can remember all season. Walker and Harrison outstanding, amond worked hard but he just lacks a bit of pace.

First 15-20 I thought we were going to be on the wrong end of a good pasting but we settled into it and looked a decent side. If we can play like this every week we should do enough to stay up.

After they had about 5 shots on target I was worried like but the effort today was tremendous. Really enjoyed the game, had just the right amount of niggle to get the crowd going, their goal was a cracker. Thomas was looking more like his old self.

As an aside we now have the answer to the quiz question of which pools player managed to get subbed after a minute.

If we can get Paynter, Donnelly, Bates and Magnay fit in the next few weeks then we'll have a fighting chance.

Thought we battled very well, just lacked a bit of nous

Lack of subs didn't help with holding out for the win.

The fight was good to see but could of been dead and buried before we went ahead

The ONLY negative from today was the inability to hold the ball up up-front. Amond didn't have a good game at all. I'd still play him every game though...

A good battling performance just unlucky it took a brilliant goal to stop us taking all three points.
Walker outstanding in his new role.

Thought we were going to get hammered.

We scored - jeez, I hope we haven't upset them?

But, credit to them - they then knuckled down, all of them, and fought.

Yes, Plymouth were better. But we worked hard. ALL of them. Even Featherstone (I'm no fan) put in a shift.

I worried that we run out of legs - particularly if they scored - and what a cracker it was (for which I saw no fault in any Pools player - it was a brilliant shot) - we didn't - we still defend too deep, but....

Walker MoM - fair call.

What a good game.

Nurse, just my Horlicks please.............

Great effort from the team today. Hats off to Walker and Harrison and the forwards (especially Oates) for the shift they put in.
I think it was the midfield performance that made the difference today though. They scrapped it out and were always looking for chances to turn defence into attack. Allesandra is quite a player when he gets going - pity it doesn't happen often enough.

I'd have taken a point before kick off but came away slightly disappointed we didn't take all 3.For me we should have made 2 subs just before they scored Richardson and oates off for hawkins and Nelson,if we had done this i think we would of won the game

Harrison and Walker played really well, their player Taylor was a right handful and they handled him. Midfield actually fought for the ball and Oats an Alessandra played well
Thomas looked interested or fit enough 1 in ever 4 minutes and was looking at the bench from about minute 60, no ware near fit yet I would guess but hints of how good he is.

I don't think they were anywhere near as fit as the game required and the substitution s should have come earlier

Enjoyed listening to that today. You could hear the crowd responding to the effort from the players. Would have been great to get 3 points but looking their league position it has to be viewed as a point gained.

I couldn't fault any player today. They all put a shift in. Made a point at full time that I had barely noticed Walker during the game. Always a sign that a centre half has played well.

Amond was dreadful today, timing his runs second half, control of the ball and he is deceptively slow, he may be the top scorer but on today showing he needs a partner with him.

I'm still baffled that people don't like Featherstone. First name on the team sheet at the minute. Today did nothing to make me think different.

I think he's carrying a knock.

I'm not sure why utter bell helmets like yourself always need a target. You couldn't fault any of the players today.

It's true though. It looked a case of when they would score before Oates scored.

They had 3/4 very good chances before our goal and would of been interesting to see how we reacted had they went ahead. Nice to see fight though but it was no means an outstanding performance

Struggling to recall 3 or 4 chances for them. Fryer pulled off a couple of saves but nothing a potato couldn't have.

They hit the bar but was offside so doesn't count and they flashed a corner across the 6 yard box after Fryer was blocked. That about it.

I keep reading comments about it was all them first 15-20 mins, but one free kick and saved header by Fryer the ball was in their half most of that time sctatchinghead

Young Nelson had a dreadful day. He was desperate to get on and took a bad knock almost immeadiately. Hope it's nothing serious. Typical of our luck with injuries.

That wasn't a free kick either!

We've had that Karl Pilkington/money super market hot pant dancing ref a few times now and he's utterly dreadful. He pulled them back first half and did us a massive favour when he should have played advantage then second half he played advantage when Micheal Woods broke forward with no support against six Plymouth players he lost the ball we ended up under pressure (two corners) as a result.

I thought there should have been a red for that two footed challenge on Thomas. The ref was shocking for both teams.

In the first 15 minutes they were absolutely destroying us, Jervis in particular. The comments about the rest of the game were off though, I think either side of half time we had good 20/25 minute spells where we kept the ball well and pressed them high up the pitch. I still think we overplay a bit sometimes, would like to see Allesandra having a shot instead of trying to beat an extra man or take an extra touch all the time.

I think initially he was going to send him off he went straight to his pocket quickly but the fracas that followed I gave him a bit of time to think and downgrade it to a yellow. It was footed and straight through the back of Thomas so he could have had no complaints, maybe the fact he took the ball as well as everything else saved him?

Yeah the first 20 minutes were a difficult watch it looked like a heavy defeat was on its way, both full backs were getting torn apart and we looked pretty much all over the place. The goal gave us some much needed confidence and got the crowd going as the crowd had started as nervy and negatively as the players!

I thought Plymouth were poor to be honest, if they are second top then its a really poor division. I mean they didn't really threaten after the first 20 minutes, it took a brilliant goal from distance to break down arguably the weakest, certainly the least experienced back four Pools have ever fielded. Credit to every one of our players you couldn't fault a single one of them in terms of effort and commitment it's just unfortunate they found the top corner when in all honesty they looked to have ran out of ideas. We even finished the game stronger with all the late pressure, if only Oates could have got his head up and found an unmarked Amond when he crossed straight to the keeper.... It was an enjoyable game though and it was nice to see the crowd really get behind the team.

THE failure to convert dominance into chances cost Argyle three points on their travels at Hartlepool...

The Pilgrims were unplayable for long periods of the first half, with Graham Carey, Matty Kennedy and Jake Jervis creating excellent chances.

None were scored, though, and Hartlepool were able to take the lead, against the run of play, through Rhys Oakes.

Rhys Oakes Who's he? sctatchinghead are they sure it was not Jim Carrey or Jarvis Cocker who had chances.
