We need to replace him quickly with a young striker with no league experience or a young centre back no league experience who will never be considered for the first team even when have six injured defenders and have sold or loaned out the rest.

Orrell did well for me, until he got injured!

When I saw Orrell preseason he got in good positions without achieving anything. I thought he'd get more opportunities but it doesn't look promising for him if he's dropped down so far.

Starting to think Jones has quickly come to the conclusion all these youngsters we've signed aren't up to league football.

He must have come to the same conclusion regarding the ones getting a first team game as well.

I am finding the current policy and squad bizarre.

We have a policy? The only one I can see is filling both the squad and bank account with loans. I say filling, I have my doubts the bank account is anywhere near full.

This ^
We can ship out the bulk of our squad but if we don't bring in a Mirfin, Gray, Wyke, Tshibola or Hugill type character we're fooookkkked. sadx

This is absolutely the weakest squad I have seen at Pools.

Totally unbalanced and with far too many players who've been signed in recent months who were bought to merely occupy squad numbers.

Can't see us keeping clean sheets or score enough goals to win games.

It's pathetic really. Without bringing some proper lads in with experience and nouse we are proper fucked.

The current mess at the Vic is reminiscent of the period when the club was mismanaged by another shyster named Garry - Gibson that is, although at that time at least we were plying our trade in the 3rd echelon which is light years away from where we are now.

At least Gibsons downfall ultimately was him overspending on the team I don't think Coxhall could ever be accused of that!

Gibsons tenure was a roller coaster ride, but at least we had a good team and good football...till it went tits up. But it was the first time in my time supporting pools we could be called successful and it felt really good at the time.

Snowy is on the ball. We had three of the best years in Pools history only bettered by IOR under Gibson. OK both ended in tears but it was good whilst it lasted.

Totally agree - and, for all his alleged 'faults', I liked Big Garry as a bloke - he was excellent company - and, aye, look at his deals with the likes of Lennie Johnrose!

Garry, Garry, are you watching? Fancy a break from business?

Agree with the above 3 posts.
Under Gibsons reign it was the start of better days after about 22 years of struggling in Division Four.
Just hopeing we can somehow retain league status and the ambition of getting back to league one can be achieved.
Without waiting 22 years like. rolf

I've always believed there's a massive masochistic streak/inferiority complex among a good section of Pools fans, a sort of secret pleasure from being happy in distress, that permeates through the town in general, an acceptance of 'it's not for the likes of us' and a willingness to suffer and mutter but carry on accepting the status quo. The only thing holding the people of Hartlepool back are the people of Hartlepool.
Put up with shit and you get shit.
It's time people were held to account.

Published on the Spennymoor site on Friday

Quote:
Tomorrow's battle with Buxton will come too soon for new loanee Jake Orrell.
The Hartlepool United starlet won't be cleared to play in time and could even be involved with the Hartlepool squad in their home game against Plymouth Argyle before beginning his one-month loan at Spennymoor.
The former Sunderland and Chesterfield youngster completed paperwork today, but is yet to join up with the Moors squad to begin his month at The Brewery Field.

Spennymoor site then noted that the FA had blocked it on Friday - no further explanation - one assumes that it was merely a paperwork or timing issue.....

Sorry, but that's not how I remember it at all. Gibson made his money when the property market was buoyant and lost it all when the market crashed. When he was skint he started taking money out of the club to pay for his lifestyle - paying the lease on his Rolls Royce, for example.

I never met Gibson so can't relate to stories of what a 'good bloke' he was at all. He bankrupted Pools and a squad that was challenging for promotion to the Championship was flogged off in a fire sale.

To be honest, the team on Saturday was horribly reminiscent of watching the teenagers and journeymen in John McPhail's side when he was trying to stave off relegation in 1994. They had some fight in them as well - but couldn't prevent the inevitable. I'm not convinced history won't repeat itself this season after Coxall's sly fire sale.

Seems to be a new thing where loanees can play for their parent teams reserves. Heardman was playing for Newcastle reserves last year while with us and I believe Fewster did too.

If it's classed as a youth loan then a player can still feature for his parent club's reserves. I think they can still train with their parent club too, presuming only if the club they're loaned to is amateur or part-time.

Heard another take on this rumour, this time from the Spenny physio.
Apparently he says the loan was blocked because Pools were trying to get a player in on an emergency loan whilst trying to send players out so thats why the FA blocked it.

Were you there for a rub down monkeybutt?

I can't see this being anymore than rumour as Pools would never be so unprofessional or make administrative errors. If it is true however I bet the emergency loan was somehow on lower wages than Orrell.

Can you still do emergency loans?

Not sure we'd even qualify for one

Like a Wonga emergency loan? We've already had one of them.

Only for keepers so I can't see the this one have anything in it whatsoever to be honest.
