Theres a lovely little pub on Clerkenwell Road in London called the Griffin, I think it used to be a fire station as there is this firemans pole mounted on a small stage.

So, is Brentfords ground named after the Band, are the band named after the pub, is the mythical creature called so because it supported Brentford...........errrrr yes I do remember the band, but couldn't tell what their music was like!!!!

I was only going to say that I was out in Bangkok with their bass player the other night, but someone's going to ask if he ever had a piss at Brentford's ground. :evil:

So I'm not going to relate what he had to say about the Sex Pistols and XTC, which were really good tales. thrilled

I reckon they were before all that 'New Wave Of...' Mr Glasses, the way he described it was 'hair down here (waist level) writing seventeen minute songs in 9/12 time....' Contemporaries of Wishbone Ash etc etc etc.

We've got a Gryphon album upstairs - vinyl obviously. Very much folk rock with the emphasis on folk. Sounds like an alternative sountrack to Lord of the Rings.

Well done Phil, been listening to a few of the samples on their site, saved me having to dig out the album - just as I remembered them. For people who like a more modern folk / rock sound I can reccomend the bands Circulus and Tunng.

Have you listened to any Herman Dune albums Hawklord?

Certainly have - they were firm favourites of the late John Peel & did some sessions for his show - think they are / were based in France a while back. Strange but pleasant.
