I think we would need our current owners kicked into touch and someone to come in who has the funds to invest in the playing squad.

I remember getting Phil Brown at good odds before and he got backed into something similar...then we appointed John Hughes.

Jones far superior manager compared to Todd IMHO.

Getting on a bit admittedly, but getting him would be a bit of a coup for a club in this division.

Similarities in that both have top level experience and both been out the game for a while. The main problem is if things aren't right behind the scenes then he's got both hands tied just like Hignett.

And of course the stress being Hartlepool manager causes must be taken into consideration.

Thing is that unless there is investment in the playing squad it doesn't matter who the manager is. Initial results could be good to begin with having a new manager in but after that at the end of the day the players are just not good enough. They say 1 man doesn't make a team but we have missed Nathan immensely, I go to games now and there is no excitement anymore no one to get you off your seat . I honestly hope Newport and Notts County dont shape up in the last half of the season.

Wasn't Dave Jones in the Monkeys?

Sounds like a good appointment and he would bring a great tune to run out to.

Limits with sky let you win a 100 at whatever price you bet at I think

Doubt you will lose you VC account just for betting on that at 16/1 they know they won't make money out of them more an advertising tool than a betting market

I couldn't care less who knew or who before. I just put it up like anyone as that's what I heard and thought it was in everyone's interest. Seems a bit weird people wanting to say I knew all along before X,y and Z.

I would imagine there is a fair chance Hignett was on the standard Pools 12 month rolling contract so it may not have cost much to pay him off, especially as the OS states he left by mutual consent.

Jones must be about 60 year old, he hasn't worked for 3 years and his last job didn't end well. He's also only had the odd season in the Premiership and has managed for the most part in The Championship. I cant imagine folk are exactly banging down his door with job offers, nor do I think his wage demands would be excessive.

Lets for arguments sake say he comes in on 2 grand a week. Pools probably can pay his first 2-3 months salary out of the gate receipts from the Grimsby game. It takes the pressure off Coxhall and buys him a bit more time with the fans to get investors in.

And of course there is still the BIG January announcement to come yet, which could be news that we have been bought out by billionaires.

As others have said - if Jones is the next gaffer - I hope he has the bottle to out the owners if there is something untoward going on behind the scenes. Dave Jones would be one of our more exciting managerial appointments of recent years but it certainly wouldn't totally clear up my serious concerns regarding all things Pools at the moment.

I have no doubt there will be a minority who will greet such news with the "he's an ex-Premier League manager so we must have money in the bank" attitude ...

Got to feel some sympathy for Craig Hignett in these circumstances, even though he'll have known all about the possibility Coxall would tap someone a new manager up, seeing as how he was tapped up himself to fill Ronnie Moore's boots a year ago.

In the week before the Grimsby defeat he was allowed to sign Kavanagh on loan and Rodney as "one for the future," and was still talking about getting a replacement for Curtis Fleming in as coach. That's not to say the wheels weren't in motion behind the scenes before then, but losing to Grimsby was obviously the tipping point.

Anyhow, I wish Higgy all the best for the future. My attitude to him has really changed in the last month/six weeks or so as it became clear just what a pig's ear Coxall and co. are making of the club's finances. Hignett telling the truth about players having to be sold and Coxall denying it on twitter has been on a par with the last months of IOR and John Hughes.

I'm resigned to the fact that Nathan Thomas will be sold before the transfer window closes. Whoever comes in has got a hell of a job on his hands.

I hope he gets another chance somewhere else because for a few months last season the bloke was a bresh of fresh air and things were genuinely looking promising. I admire the fact that he wanted to try and get playing good football but it's not worked out. I don't know if it's true but it sounds like he's had a tough 12 months in his personal life, maybe that has had an impact on his job? A few bad decisions regarding player retention and signings maybe in not the right areas of the team but I reckon we've had far worse managers have a go at what is becoming an increasingly difficult job. It's started to get to the stage were he was getting abuse and ridicule from certain quarters like that shite on Facebook last night so he's probably best off out of it.

Think the last 2 posts plus the quoted one from Mally Dawes sums it up for me. Feel a bit sorry for Hignett, some bad decisions and bad luck plus the off field issues seem to have broken him. For me he's carried himself with dignity to the end and we've certainly had many worse managers in our time.

The crew on Facebook are clueless mind, personally abusive and seem to think anyone passing the ball wants binning. Let's hope the new manager gets the blend right, doesn't abandon the football but adds some steel down the spine of the team (if he has the funds/ability to do anything of course)

It doesn't take a great of understanding in this instance somebody Tweeted him asking how he is and he said 'fine can't wait to get back' he means get a job and get back in football. The Tweet above is from a Pools fan were he says he hopes to come back and watch a game soon.

Nothing to see at all. Moore seems a good bloke without an ounce of bitterness about the club even straight after he got sacked.

I know last year when I got told I was getting made redundant I had minimal incentive to work hard during my notice period.

Might as well have sacked him last week and stuck Collins in charge for the game.

Went through redundancy myself about 2 years ago. It was not good - lost staff left right a centre whilst a few of us tried to hold everything together until the end. For that I have sympathy with Hignett.

Giving what's been said and with the three winding up orders, is that the bigger problem the players have? Every summer there is a release list of footballers, some of whom struggle to find a club - those lads being paid late and possibly facing financial struggle in the future, no matter how much they try and block it out, it will be causing them a distraction.

Shame for those involved, with the exception of the chairman, still I suppose he has the skin of a rhinoceros and will let all the criticism wash over him.

I was a member of 'IntotheBlue' for a bit and used to post every now and then, as me and the username I've always used. In the end I got sick of being routinely insulted and I mean called a prick and wanker regularly so I messaged Mr Yloop and got him to delete my account. Not that I was bothered greatly being abused by people who didm't know me from Adam it just got a bit pointless every trying to contribute with the 'debate' That was three or four years ago and it was from all the usual suspects involved with this embarrassing shite now. Some people on here don't help granted but it's been going on for years on that side across various forums. I don't know who he is but is that 'Richo' lad he is just about the worst and always has been for slagging people off he probably doesn't even know, and ironically and quite comically that's what he gets dead upset about. It also seems way more of a clique than this place has ever been, they're as thick as thieves (no pun intended  )

As I said the other day I don't want to get involved in all of this really but I suppose I am doing now but is unbelievably sad behaviour.

Hignett did not sign Rodney 100% fact.

He was signed by coxall or someone else at the club.

Hignett was adamant he would not get a game for him.

Just another thing wrong at the club.

Regarding the other boards, I've never been a member of any of them and the occasional visits told me why. Most posts are repetitive one line burps and they can hardly be called flowing or active. I call them nodding dog notes, as they're a bit like a private club for like minded people . A sort of cross between The League of Gentlemen and a North Korean chat line.
The thing about this board is it's busy, there's a wide choice of views and everybody doesn't agree with each other, which generates debate. Which is what it's all about.

There's been quite a serious allegation made on FB by Craig Hignett's Daughter that the players haven't been paid "for weeks". I would hope she's got some proof, as that is pretty naughty.

I keep hearing the doubts and concerns about this (lack of wages etc) , but we have just signed Rodney - surely if we were struggling to pay wages month to month; the long term strategy would be out of the window?!
