Yeah is there a time difference in Cambridge or something. Haha.

How many more first team players sold to be replaced by young players on loan do we reckon?

On loan or
undisclosed fee ( box of kippers).

While he is a more experienced first team player being replaced by a youngster on loan he's been shit for quite a while.

Good luck to him though as he strikes me as one of those who'll go on to do better elsewhere. He certainly seemed to play better under Ronnie Moore so maybe another change of manager will help him. Yet another transfer before this rumoured managerial change does detract from that paticular story somewhat.

"undisclosed terms" which could be a loan. I believe his contract was up at the end of the season so any fee would have been minimal.

OS says undisclosed terms. That's a transfer in my book.

5 random thoughts in Fail lazy journalist stylee while the coffee's still coming through the percolator:

1) Why is the Bunker clock set an hour fast? is it so we're first with the news?

2) Who knew so many Pools' squad players were coveted by other league clubs? Hignett, obviously - he kept saying so but nobody believed him.

3) Who is making the decision to sell these players?

4) Is it a fire sale because the club is completely skint, like the way the playing squad was dismantled when the Gary Gibson era went tits up?

5) Or is it more surgical, Hignett releasing players who haven't measured up to his expectations to make room for some new signings? In which case, rumours of his own imminent departure look way wide of the mark.

Probably a lot of the out of contract players in the summer will want to bail out ASAP than stay at this Circus.

That's 2 of a woefully shocking back 4 gone. Not bad news at all.

Only good news if we replace with someone better though. Kavanagh seemed decent enough but our options are dwindling. Need a decent centre back.

I'm sure we have to get rid of some before we bring in any more. We have too many defenders on our books already! The same with the midfield, too many midfielders who aren't good enough.

Not sure Carroll is woeful either.

Seems to be a fire sale to me. Get cash in for anyone who's wanted and replace them with younger loans who are mainly lacking experience. Seems like a recipe for disaster

With the news fewster is possibly signing, maybe the paynter rumours are true

I love the convoluted theories behind his departure. However, is it a case of what can we flog, lose, what's in the cupboard rather than some planned strategy.
Stack em high, flog em cheap, just get rid.....?

I'm sure there will be 4 or 5 earmarked for departure, hopefully its because we want to improve the squad, with better coming in.

We're a really bad side yet teams seem to want to sign our so called shite players.

I'd be concerned by needing to sell people to sign seen as hignett had made how many signings, many of who we never likely to see

You lot have seen these plauers a lot more than I have but I find the comments quite worrying.

So the ones released so far aee shite and nobody is that upset. Strange then that they have both gone to clubs in a much better place than pools at the moment.

Odd dont you think?

Pools fans think they can be replaced by better but better teams than pools have snapped them up?

We should be extremely worried in my humble opinion.

Why is it concerning that we need to get rid before we bring in? The size of our squad is huge, we must have been close to the financial limit.

Why were we bringing in players like Wise, Asenjo (?), Rodney etc to sit in the reserves? Surely them wages would have been better spent elsewhere so we didnt have to start a fire sale to buy first team players?

No it would be concerning if we were getting rid of our better players. Carroll has a lot of good attributes, defending wasn't one of them. Toto on his day was excellent, but was prone to 1 huge gaffe every single match. Neither are a huge loss

I got the impression that we were/are trying to find good youngsters who could be potentially be worth something in a couple of years. Christ knows though

If we are close to financial limits then the ones coming in are likely ti be cheaper options than the ones leaving.

If they are going to be better then they generally are more expensive too.

I dont see any positives with whats happening here.

And who is next?

I guess we have to wait and see. Or in your case wait and get your son to tell you.

I understand that but surely if your close to being in a position where you have to sell to bring anyone in and are in a relegation fight then you would do without the youngsters for a period to concentrate on first teamers and survival?

Convoluted? It's a straight either/or.

Either the manager decided to let him go because he's not good enough, or he had to be sold because the club is skint.

I found Carroll really frustrating to watch - definitely a talented footballer, but inconsistent, completely one footed on the ball and prone to defensive mistakes.

I reckon Hignett was fed up with him - he'd already tried the kid Martin at left back a few times before he got the new lad in on loan.

Toto - Shrewsbury are poor albeit in the division above, look likely to go down so will struggle to attract good players.
Carroll - reading between the lines, Cambridge have got him in as a squad player, while for us he was a regular.

What concerns me is that we're shipping out first teamers and replacing them with relatively unproven and possibly cheaper rather than better options.... Meanwhile there are players that arrived with a little fanfare that are sitting in the ressies and are not ready/good enough to step up. ... bringing through younger players is a good strategy if you've got the players around them worth some experience, we need a couple of older heads who can still play well enough but they cost money.....

He was awful, one of those totally 1 footed players which meant he had to go back when the left passage blocked, heart of a pea and spine of a jellyfish, gotta question the scouts at Cambridge stpid

Excatly,2 mainstays of a terrible defence.
If our better players, not that we've many,we're going,I could understand the concern, but not those 2

I'll start worrying we well sell somebody who I think helps us with football matches. So far, that hasn't happened.

For years we've said we'd get rid of the dead wood in the summer, why not move a few players around in January in possible, it's not as if it's putting our top five league position in jeopardy is it?

Just looked on the website and there's another article featuring that Michael Brown (Our Commenrcial Director, apparently) fella who was mentioned a few weeks back by Chip Fireball (?).

Did anyone work out who he is or where he came from?

seem to forget carroll's replacement at present is a lad on loan or a 17 year old kid.

people will just try to see positives in anything, albeit same as people seeing negatives in anything. We are getting rid of anyone can to trim outgoing would be my position on it, which in wake of the last few concerning things such as winding up orders is a big worry

Do we really need two people (Burrows & Brown) drawing a wage from the club? Didn't Russ do both of these roles?

Basically, you were talking about future prospects, the problem is here and now, which is the point I was making, If we don't sort out today, tomorrow is irrelevant.
You decide not to debate the point, but make a comment that I assume meant you already were aware of the problem I pointed out. There!
