Are they worth anything these days on Vinyl? I have a few in a box somewhere. From memory quite a few by Madness and definitely the 82 England World cup song (it had the players autographs on 1 side)!

Nah, they sound like shite. They also deteriorate badly especially if stored in those PVC clear sleeves that most were issued in. It's a vinyl killer, that stuff...

Cheers Mr ElvisC, you have dashed my hopes of becoming an overnight millionaire!

Will/do collectors buy them for the fact they are a picture disc?

I had Magical Love by Saturnalia which was one of, if not the very first picture disc in the early 70's. Sound quality, as well as the music was dire, only bought it for the novelty value, mind it was a cracking thing to look at, sold it a good few years ago for £20, there's a few on Ebay at the moment for up to £100+, will be very lucky to get that sort of money for it when they are still going for twenty quid.

Some are more colectable than others. Some Madonna ones are sought after because of the semi porno pics!

When some of the initial pic disc 45s came out in 78-79 (bands like The Cars and Foreigner were early onto it) they shot up in value. Nowadays they are a couple of quid..basically because they sold really well and 1979 was the peak for U.K. 45s sales.(..a Top 20 single had to shift 75000 copies at some dates in 79!)

But to be honest however good they might look they sound like shit.

Concurring with Chip. Sold my old Amazing Space Frogs EP for nearly £300 and some psych-folk album by a band from Manchester who only pressed 200 to sell at gigs for a bit more than that. Neither much cop really but highly sought after by completist loons in Japan and Italy.

Well, I like that. To think I go to all this effort and yet still have my insanity called into question.

Anyway, I wouldn't sell the record either. A life without rare stuff in the loft is a life not worth living.

The only picture disc I ever bought was Curved Air's Air Conditioning and it did indeed sound terrible.

Mind you, that had quite a lot to do with the music! Then again, Sonja Kristina was well fit and I was only 18.
