These are the games I went to as a kid. There were no Police so it was very easy to nick in. Ryhope CW, Annfield Plain, Heaton Stannington, Horden CW.

Shame about Horden, saw a few games there and it wasn't a bad place to watch a game, had a half decent club next to the ground too.

Never enjoyed playing there much. Best Northern League grounds to play on back in the day was Durham City and Eppleton- Wembley of the North it was called then.

Some of them pitches are in wretched shape now.

Did you ever play on a pitch full of cow pats?
I did, but that was at rugby, where it was only your face, not your boots, that reaped the harvest.

3 - 0, spanked them, Walker looks strong, Martin at left back and Pollock all had strong games.

First team never play 4:4:2. Although I think they should, easiest system for our players. Reserves play 4:4:2. Makes no sense. Connor Smith did well in first half. Stand out for me.

Couple of decent runs and good link up for the 1st goal, he has a burst of speed.

One thing Mr I got wrong was there was always a police presence at reserve games. One Sgt and four PCs. We never stopped kids getting in it made the numbers up. That's one of the reasons Pools were in so much debt paying Durham Police for such a non event. Never mind it was the only paid overtime at that time and it paid for my holidays!

If Monkeybutt's agreeing with you, you're probably him.

When me, Johnny Giro, Spud, Evil and Skinhead John went to reserve games in the early/mid 80's can't remember any bobbies like....use to get chased all round the ground by Ronnie Harrison after nicking in!!!!

We had stopped doing them shortly after joining Cleveland in 1974. It was money for old rope just enjoyed chatting to supporters behind the goal and a pie and a cup of tea from Brian Stonehouse in the tea hut at the Town End.

I'm sure you're right but I don't remember any. Mutley will be along shortly, he was a better climber inner than me.
