Well, let's see how this goes. I tried to get myself up for the Euro's, despite not expecting much, only to be let down.

Today Big Sam is expected to opt for 8 of the team that lost to Iceland so nothing much will have changed. He's also said he'd not be disappointed with a draw against Slovakia. Obviously he's managing expectations but he must surely know everyone else still daft enough to actually give a shit about England, myself included, would be hugely disappointed in a draw against Slovakia.

Rooney looks set to start as does Sterling and both seem to have improved under their new bosses but it's hard to get past their Euro performances.

I will watch the game in hope yet again, I feel a sense of duty to pass on this hope to my son so he can endure the same disappointment throughout his life. It's what being an English football fan is all about.

Never thought id say this but I'm not that bothered about the game. Id rather the premiership was on. At least some of the games are decent. No doubt England will win and qualify comfortably. Can Sam motivate them enough to win games in the big games.

So here we go again.

New manager picks just about the same team that were an embarrassment when it really mattered.

The worst of fhe lot in that last game was Rooney. And now hes captain for the next two years and another finals to get his personal records up whilst doing fuck all.

We will qualify as we always do. Then the same shit will happen yet again.

In no other sport or injury would the guilty parties be given so many chances.

Nowt has changed.

We will qualify but so fucking what.

Two more years of listening to that thick scouse twat speaking bollix and breaking more pointless records.

Marvellous.

Big Sam stated he would consider selecting foreign players who due to some bizarre ruling after playing in England can be selected, FFS !
I have been watching a Documentary, Scotland's Game on BBC Scotland via Iplayer about the demise of Scottish football, the second third rate foreigners brought in and the bent people buying the clubs of which they put at least 5 into administration.
The Gretna bit was interesting where the owner bankrolled them for years until he became ill, pulled his money out and they went bust.
Irrespective of what you think of Scottish Football it's a good watch, it won't happen in the Premier League but could in the other divisions, showed how most of the owners had no interest in the club only what they could get out of it.

90+ minutes of my life wasted watching that. Same guano team, same guano mentality, same guano formation, same guano tactics, same guano lack of urgency, same guano lack of plan B,same guano, just a new manager.

It was pretty depressing. But hardly surprising.

The gushing praise allardyce gave rooney at the end was sick bag stuff.

I swear I couldnt see any difference there to hodgson match against them at the euros.

Except we sneaked a last second winner.

So it looks like the plan is to pick rooney as captain and tell him he can play and tun to where he likes and then pick 10 others to try and make it work.

Icould understand this if rooney was messi or ronaldo. But he isnt. He is just an over rated and over hyped decent footballer.

Its ridiculous.

And those people that go and watch them. Fucking hell they must be mentally deficient.

How anyone can waste that much money watching that dull fest is beyond sense.

Decent 2nd half performance once substitutions were made.

Well worth the win in the end.

That Eric Dier is brilliant and not over rated at all. He would definitely be in the team even if he played for say Bournemouth or Stoke

He's like Pirlo compared to Jordan Henderson. It's good we're having a conversation about the two holding midfielders we played against Slovakia though. It's a good job they both sat in front of that back four or we might have got torn apart.

Best thing about the match was Skrtel's completely deranged performance. On a yellow? "Yes, so now I'm going to commit a second yellow foul twice and then follow the second one up with a very obvious straight red stamp. Then I'll just grin like complete nutter." At least he was entertaining.

It was offit behaviour almost like he felt sorry for us and felt after earning millions playing over here he felt he had to give a bit back. He was probably thinking how it was almost boring playing the same 0-0 draw only a couple of months apart watching England pass slowly and without any tempo or threat of end product. Even the opposition are bored and sick of England, I reckon if Skrtel hadn't have done that the keeper would have whacked out a scorpion kick or something.

Skrtel was targeting Kane over and over. Either they have history, he knew Kane had the beating of him or he couldn't be araed being involved in such a shite game!
Agree we deserved the win but the players struggle once in and around the box.
Rooney wasn't that bad but regardless why was he so deep? Thought that experiment had been binned off. Poor Vardy must think he will never get another chance when Sturridge gets in ahead of him with 5 mins play for Liverpool.
Oakland deserved his goal, only one who has it in him to go past his man with anything other than pace, just a shame his finishing is generally Bingham standard.

Maybe if Oakland was playing in the summer we'd have won the Euro's? Seriously underrated player, rarely talked about.

He is strange one Adam Oakland lovely feet good footballer and does loads of good stuff in and around the the box yet rarely comes up with end product even the goal was hit straight at the keeper fortunately like his centre back he was embarrassed and bored for us drawing 0-0 with Slovakia again and shouldered arms.

Re the point above PJ I think there are 2 elements, one is I think my brain tries to forget Henderson exists never mind starts for England otherwise it will evolve a way of holding a soup spoon to gouge itself out of my head so it can't think of him. The second element is that I think everyone knows he is mutter (apart from the successive England managers haha).

Anyway let's get onto Adam Oakland I love him, my favourite player

We've took Hendo to Brazil in 2014 and France in 2016. He's a canny average prem cm but he's not up to it at international level so I was very surprised Sam picked him over drinkwater or even for the love of God mark noble. Whose cock has he got to suck to be given a chance?

And Henderson is faster? Hardly.

Centre mid is not an area you not to be blessed with pace.

I'm not saying noble is the answer, but he's worth a try.

Ross Barkley is better than all of them. But he is way too maverick for Allardyce.

ANd anyway, where would Rooney play if he had to pick Alli And Barkely.

I take all your points And I agree Barkley should be in there.

I just feel noble deserves a chance. His stats are up there with Hendo n drinkwater from last season n hold up against most centre mids. If he was at Man U or Arsenal he'd have been given a chance by now. Christ lingard got a call up after about 10 games.

I'm gunna give Sam the benefit of the doubt. The seasons just started. He might not have wanted to rock the boat unless we lost.

Rooney has virtually made himself un droppable by declaring his retirement in 2 years, he'll play every game now.

SAMs comments over Rooney after were bizarre. I can't tell him where to play - yes you fuckin can!

Its utterly ridiculous that Allardyce has virtually guaranteed Rooney a start for the next two years.

Its worse than that period when Gerrad and Lampard were guaranteed the same.

Some very good young players are being left out just to accommodate the fat faced scouse twat.

England would be better off ditching Rooney and building a proper team.

The most over rated player in the history of the sport. But hey,he isbreaking records allover the place.

Just shows how fucking pointless those records are.

Nah, it must just be that I've never typed/searched/looked for Lallana, mainly due to the fact that "Enger-lund" are a bag of shite, and have been since mobile phones were invented.

Barkley rightly didn't go to the Euros as his club form didn't warrant it. In the opening games of this season however he's been one of Everton's best players.

Rooney has also been better for Man Utd, not in midfield though. Allardyce said he can't tell Rooney where to play. That sounds resoundingly like insubordination to me and should result in him being dropped. If he's not there to tell the players what to do, what is Allardyce there for? If nothing else I thought discipline would be the best thing Big Sam brought to the England job.

Barkley DID go to the Euros. Its just that England played that well, Hodgson didnt need to give hime a chance.

Rooney was far too deep yesterday. Kane was isolated and his laboured movement made us far too predictable going forward

The game opened up when Ali came on, which is no surprise as he got further forward.

If the manager tells Rooney to play close to the striker than that's where he should be. It was obvious after the first half and a bit of the second he was far too deep. I would have taken him off at that point.

I thought Sam would come in and kick a bit of Arse. He was quite vocal in his book and after the euros about how shit we were and how can change it, obviously he still has time to do that. But if his start is anything to go by then not a lot will change.

Rooney had about ten set pieces from corners n free kicks.
Almost everone hit a Slovakian head.
Good player in his younger days but well finished now.

And the manager just enjoying his last job bfor his retirement like most former England managers.

Footballs just one big gravy train were managers n pundits talk total shite to protect there own jobs.
I think theres only Eddie Kyle who actually talks a bit of sense.

That interview after the match was the most embarrassing I've seen since Ronnie's on air performance at Salford.

Lallana and to an extent, Dele Alli, are the only two players you could even remotely class as good players too. The rest are dog meat.

LBH the Premier League is full of overpaid foreign players and Mansgers, (Managers who only sign foreigners)and all those who subscribe to Sky and BT are contributing to a now very poor England team, no one can complain about the lack of quality players in the England team.
It won't be long before the majority of the squad will be from the Championship or lower leagues like the other UK teams have to do.

Dont be silly Jamie.

When we get to Wembley in the Johnstones Paint Trophy Final, and our fans turn up, to fully endorse the involvement of the premiershit Under 23 teams, the tournamnet will take off, and we will have hundreds of top quality talent coming through.

The FA, Premier League, and the FL have all told us.

When we're out the EU can the FA enforce a limit on overseas players? They should find a way to discourage foreign coaches being appointed too to avoid another Sam Allardyce as England boss.

Did Sam really say 'it's not for me to say where Wayne Rooney plays'

Seriously, what an absolutely fantastic quote from the new England manager. We're going to win the World Cup under him, of that I'm sure.
