Disappointed in Notts County fans too. Over a thousand there, I thought they were better than that.

Ivan Ash said there could have been at least 6 - 10 players sent off, even Bartlett legged it from the goal to get involved

If they're suspended do they count toward the first team players? Obviously if half the team is suspended we have to play younguns.

We should all be proud of him getting sent off in this. The rest should have done the same.

Mind you he us getting slagged off for it elsewhere.

He should then have run into the crowd and punched all the idiots from hartlepool thay attended.

Can't be calling them fans.

Those who attended must surely only have a passing interest in the game in general?

Our attendances in the jpt had improved over the past couple of seasons to what they had been previously but for the Sunderland game I hope we manage under 1000. Some of the gates last night were a bit higher than I'd hoped to see but safe to say not all.

Quite frankly the powers that be should be ashamed that on the night sky were raving over Prem clubs spending over £1 billion, 392 turned out to watch a professional team play against a b team, and record low attendances being set across the country. I remember a couple of years ago Danny Mills saying pools fans would rather watch a game against man utd reserves than Torquay and its idiots like him who will some how try claim that this whole joke of a competition is in some was a success.

Don't give a shit about the competition, never have, couldn't give a shite about last night's result but just confirms that Toto is a walking landmine both with and without the ball. Basically any time he's on the pitch.

When my kids were 8 they would have understood.

I take it they will also be going to watch the Sunderland match then?

I shudder to think that there might be lots of folk that do this.

Its got to fail. You are not supporting Pools by attending these games.

they actually might be in favour of the new competition and think that the EFL is the best run organisation in the world thats only interest is to help clubs in the lower leagues as well. they also believe in the tooth fairy , father chrismas and tony blair always told the truth.

I don't think anyone is having a go at you its not a witch hunt you only took some kids to a 'football match' but out of interest would you have gone to watch the reverses if they were playing at Notts County last night?

I don't think you need to start calling anyone names, ok maybe the The Colonel, but I'm sure you could have explained that this wasn't a proper first team fixture and explained the whole u23's thing and why we shouldn't be supporting this competition. Attendances need to be as low as possible, don't be there and contribute towards the figure. I'm sure they would have understood. I've already seen people talking about free tickets for the Sunderland farce, sorry match, FFS don't use them it doesn't matter whether you pay in or not don't be a in attendance because if you are you are supporting this ridiculous competition that needs to last one season and never be or anything like be seen ever again. Everyone needs to see the bigger picture here. The crowd and away following was way too many last night, why would over 1,000 people want to support something that is a long term threat to clubs like Pools? Don't go near any of these 'games'

Your reasons for attending this game are unquestionably valid.

However, the game you've chosen to attend couldn't have been much worse.

There is a much bigger picture here that is about sticking together and protecting our club as well as the structure of the English game and seemingly the best way to do this is not to attend any of the games in this competition with the result of hopefully forcing the powers that be to return the competition to how it was or at the very least remove the U23 teams.

The comparison drawn with picket lines etc is because it requires the same solidarity amongst the fans - a few could spoil it for the masses, especially where the few put their own desires before the greater good.

To be fair to MIB he has took 2 or 3 eight year old kids to watch pools. That was the kids choice. Albeit the completion is failing and needs to fail, but like he says, is home on a rare occasion, and took 8 year old kids to support pools. If they are wanting to go to pools at a young age I commend both kids and MIB. Would be much easier to head 10 mile down the road and get them hooked at the borough or Sunderland. That in my eyes is 2 or 3 kids hooked and associated to pools for the rest of their their lives.

I think everyone gets that yes, and I don't see anyone being serious having a go at that BUT!

Attending these games is not supporting a club like Pools or Notts County. Quite the opposite. The bigger picture is greater than any reason why anyone would attend and it's important people think about that before go to another of these games.

I'm not condoning the fact it will support our club or notts county or any other league 1 or 2 club. I will NOT be attending any of these games, but the lad has simply took his kids to a pools game. Whether he went or not I think the message has hit home to the organisers that the competition has turned to a farce. Would MIB and his 2 or 3 kids made a difference had they went or not.

If you ask MIB if he supported the competition or not I'd hazard a guess he will not agree with how it is being run, but how would you expect him to say to his 8 year old kid (who he will get to take him to a pools game 1 in 5 or 6) sorry son, we cant go tonight because ... [and explaining this to an 8 year old]. Sorry but the kid wouldn't understand the principles and arguments for or against. All he will see is his father not taking him to a game AGAIN (despite being home from work). This will mean the kid will probably think his dad is a bounder, his missus will be on his case for upsetting the kid, and all sitting there vexed with each other.

Hope your lad sees a Pools win next time he's at a match.

Others have made the point that having U-23 Prem and Championship teams in the Checkadud Cup is a really bad idea without denigrating the intelligence of mib1975's 8-year-old.

In my book (let's not call it a point) you are the dullest t roll on here and that includes Brian Clough!

Who has denigrated the intelligence of his 8 year olds? That is ridiculous, nobody being serious has even been critical of him. He offered some information and it's been discussed. He has not crossed a picket line he's taken some kids to watch football, but as an aside a wider issue has been discussed. I don't agree with anyone attending these games but I don't feel badly or angry about anyone who does their are far more important things in life.

OK, as you dont seem capable of letting it go

You must be a Daily Mail reader.

I can see the headline now:

"Straight laced mans outrage at deliberate OTT Message Board persona."

Of course everyone was OTT back in the day when we started this OTT message board. Oh, and remember it was never intended to be a serious football only board.

And look. I never insulted you once.

Unless you really are a Daily Mail reader, whereas of course you deserve everything you get.

And I doubt you even know me in real life.

You bloody liar.

We have met and I remember it clearly.

It was the day of the bunker football match against the kids team.

You were stood behind the goal with poolpower as I strolled coolly towards the front post, ruud krol like, to defend a corner.

You said quietly to PP, who`s the hunk with the gorgeous legs.

To which PP replied thats Mr Dibble, who has played at a high level, and is lush.

To which you replied. Yes, yes he is.

It was like it was yesterday.

Was it ok to have watched the highlights of this game on Pools Player? For what it's worth, there was some absolutely appalling midfield and defensive play from Pools. Midfielders not being able to control the ball or make a straight pass. Our midfield was waltzed through time and time again on just a 10 minute highlight package. Nsiala looked dodgy (again) and the discipline from the Pools players at the end of the game....the "fight" was largely down to the players in blue and white stripes. Doesn't look like any of the bench players will be staking a claim for a first team shirt based on that.

Top bantz as usual from The Colonel and chum

Can I suggest a dual approach? As well as rounding on people with usual pack mentality, why not start sending Danny Mills dog shite and perhaps if feeling extravagant, human shite, in the post?

Well to make that call on 10 minutes of highlights, in a shit cup competition is worrying. How motivated do you think the players were with the whole of Hartlepool not wanting anything to do with it?

All what you describe with the poor touches, bad passes and not being able to control a game, I saw that for 80 minutes at Exeter and 45 minutes against Notts County at home, with the first choice midfield.

Who are we actually pissed off with? The FA, club or players.... I'm sure they performed well in the circumstance. And has our midfield been that good to say other players shouldn't be pushing for starts?
