I've just heard some pretty solid rumours that a number of clubs have made an approach to the club today for Nathan Thomas.

It's a bit reminiscent of Luke James signing a new deal before being sold weeks later.

I'm hearing it's Bristol City, QPR, Oxford and Glasgow Rangers but many other clubs are monitoring him over the next few weeks.

How did he do against Preston last night?

I hope we can keep hold of him at least for one season more before we punt him on for a million plus!

The usual. Regularly skinned whoever was in front of him.

Hopefully we resist atleast until January

Compo is not one to fib and was on the money with James n Baldwin before so I'd say he's a solid source.

So long as we get somewhere near a million for him then we can't complain

Can't see him wanting to go to Bristol, Oxford or QPR if he wanted away from Mansfield cos he wanted to go home. We won't get a Million for him either and any deal would be in crappy instalments no doubt so we'd lose out all round. Be anti climax to our season preparations and hopes if he goes before August is out.

At that point though he was regarded as an inconsistent League 2 player- Pools was really his only Northern option.

I reckon he would snap QPR's hands off for the money and the opportunity to play in the Championship.

Either way it would be a right sickener.

Will be sad to see him go as he's clearly a key member of the squad.

Just hope whatever we get, they remember to add on the costs of taking him to Tenerife

Sometimes the offer is just too good to turn down. At least if a decent offer does come in i think it will now be used to strengthen the squad as well as pay off the VAT. Still would rather keep hold of him for the season if possible hands down our best player.

We signed him cos he wanted to be closer to home though. It would cost serious money for a club our size to buy a player guaranteed to be as good as him

I wouldnt expect coxall to come out n say anything detailed like we've had bids etc.

As long as we 1. get a good fee 2. re-invest the fee 3. replace him sharpish.

I'd expect it to be a loan move if anything. Probably closer to the loan window when other managers have decided who doesn't feature in their immediate plans.

Hes got potential but to early to put him in the same league as Paul Smith.
Easily the best winger weve had.
But Dalton not far behind.

Smith was brilliant for a few months in that season we were bottom in November and him and Flash helped us reach the play offs. I remember him casually turning his back and walking back to the half way line after he created goal after goal in the 7-1 Swansea win.

A totally different player to Thomas though, he had no pace just an absolute wand of a left foot. Thomas has the potential to play at the highest level, if he was more consistent with his end product he'd playing in the Premier League. I have never seen anyone beat men as regularly and as easily. Scouts are surely spotting that potential.

Nathan Thomas is the first player that I can remember in a long time that excites me. I'd be gutted if he left us so soon.

God only knows why Mansfield let him go
