Who's going? Need a lift or cheap travel option. Also, can you pay on the gate?

Taking my lad but we live 18 miles from Deepdale so can't offer a lift. You can pay on the gate according to the Pools site.

Looking forward to it - the fixture gods didn't look on me kindly for the trip to the UK - Preston away probably the only game I'll get this year.

Carson injured? Looks like 4-4-3 it's shows we have a bit more depth to able to completely change the central midfield and for it still to look, on paper anyway, pretty decent.

Talksport mentioned a few clubs looking at Thomas. Would be surprised if he went since I'm sure he wanted to move back to the north east.
He's surely a big part of Hignett's plans so wouldn't go cheap.

If a top League 1/Championship club comes in for him at the right price, doubt Thomas could say no despite wanting to be based in the North-East.

Out of the whole squad he looks by far the most likely to play higher, we'd be a much worse team without him.

I am still waiting for all these players with goals in them that hignett has brought in. Hope this is not the sign of things to come again this season, relying on Paynter for goals.

21 shots v 4 tells us it was a backs to the wall unlucky defeat.

What's that got to do with you saying I deserve a premature panic post, try going to some games before passing judgement on something you have not seen with your own eyes.

We've played 2 games. 2. And we actually scored in one of them. And one of them was against a team from a higher division. Do you not think they will need a bit of time to gel?

Vic is right, Amond is a complete waste of money. He should've scored at least 2 hat tricks by now.

we have not scored against a team higher than us? Colchester are in our league. Sunderland 0 Scunthorpe 0 Preston 0 Frendlies against Guisborough don't really count, it's against pro sides we need to gauge ourselves.

Where did I say we'd scored against a team from a higher league? I'm not going to waste any more time on this, if you're determined to bang on about the end being nigh then crack on.

Vic is right as always get with it PIN.

Think about he's given these new players two games to score hat fulls, alright tonight we were playing a team who finished in the top half of the championship last season so maybe we should have only expected a brace from all of these attacking new players but this goal crisis after 180 minutes of the season is enough to test anyone's patience. I mean we had terrace experts shouting insightful stuff like 'get him off Hignett' and booing one of the new lads after four minutes on Saturday, another example how he's a very patient man willing to give new signings a chance compared to others. I'd sack them all.

I think this failure to score against teams from a higher division could cause us real problems in League Two this season when coming up against opposition from a higher division. I blame Greg Dyke.

Hignett out... if you can't beat a team from a higher division you may as well wrap up now !

I am definitely not going to make a 200 mile round trip to watch a team that can't score at least three goals a game, especially against higher opposition. I agree with Elvis, let's get shot of that Hodcroft.

I noticed last season he wasn't one to do substitutions but then he made 3 decent ones on Saturday (imo).

I guess at nil nil, he was happy with extra time to come to make changes....

I think the game was as you'd expect. Surrender possession to the team from the higher division, defend for your lives and hit them on the break.

To be fair to Preston, despite the bloody gutting way we went out, they deserved to beat us and could easily have won by four or five had their finishing been better.

That said, I thought we played well to contain them and I think it bodes well if we're capable of defending like that.

Bartlett was good enough. Put the ball straight into touch a few times early on when he was looking for Thomas/Alesandra but he's a more than capable number two to Carson and I don't shit myself when he's in possession.....unlike Nsiala :)

Nsiala actually had a very good game with no fuck ups that I can recall. He left one of their forwards (Garner possibly) on his arse when he Cruyff-turned him....but that's where I panic and worry for the future. Centre halves doing that get caught out and 25 yards from your own goal when you're the last man isn't really the place to be dicking about. It's comical when it happens and we all take the piss out of the forward but still...

Bates also had a decent game and marshalled the back four well I think, pretty vocal when I've always seen him as being a fairly quiet-ish bloke on the pitch.

Poor Magnay got some stick but I don't think it was all warranted. He had a poor first half and one thing he does that's really frustrating is he has a touch of the Featherstone about him when he breaks down the right. He got a bollocking off Thomas in the second half for that very reason - Thomas had made a decent run past their left back and Magnay could've played him in but he chose to check his run and play it backwards. So frustrating and the bollocking was justified. Preston kept switching play and with their left back and left sided midfielder both pushing on it regularly left Magnay having to come across with two on one, which some fans blamed Magnay for because they felt he was too central...but he wasn't, he was correctly positioned as far as I was concerned. The back four move as a unit, you don't want a fookin massive hole between Magnay and Nsiala for them to exploit. Magnay had plenty of time to see the switch in play whilst the ball was in the air and start making a move towards their winger, which he did. If anything, it was Alessandra who was slow to react to the switch which created the two on one.

However, Alessandra is clearly a quality player. Worked hard again making plenty of runs and is decent on the ball. We have a good player there. His calmness when he scored (ruled out for offside) was class, just dribbled it round Lindegaard....but didn't put enough on it and it's debatable whether it went over the line or our lad who put it in. Would be nice to see who the linesman gave offside for...Alessandra or the lad who prodded it over the line (possibly Amond but can't remember)

Thomas will clearly play at a higher level at some point. He makes the wrong choices with his runs sometimes and misses the easy ball to keep the move going...BUT...I forgive him all of that because if you don't try these runs, you'll never know and I'd encourage him to try to beat his man every time he gets the ball because most of the time he'll do it. Great player to watch. Didn't look out of place against Championship players and showed them up on more than one occasion. They put two men on a League Two player in the second half. Says it all.

Josh Laurent - there really is a decent player trying to get out. Granted he needs to improve but he looks like he should be capable. He had one of our best/only chances. He basically had the keeper to beat and he had plenty of time to control the ball and make the chance a bit easier for himself but went for the spectacular/very difficult by hitting it first time.

Amond....again, looks like a proper footballer and maybe a bit harsh this but I thought he was a bit poor last night. We really needed him to hold up the ball to give the back four a breather but he was muscled off it on the very rare occasion he had possession. I don't remember him really getting a kick in the first half. Not his fault though, we were backs against the wall most of the time.

Overall they can hold their heads up after that. It wasn't our first team and they were nowhere near outclassed. Very solid defensively and with Thomas on the pitch anything can happen when you're going forward. Gutted how we lost but also pretty chuffed they didn't have another 30 minutes to play with Exeter waiting for us on Saturday.

Two games in. Oh dear.... Oh dear, oh dear..... I bet you'd still be moaning if we'd won both matches 6-0.
