Who suggested it was about the 'geographic space'? Not me.

My question is because, as I suspected, the supplier is Chinese and you haven't explained why the increased costs of a supplier from a nation with a low cost base and who invoices in GBP would result in the loss of 97 UK jobs/a shutdown of a business. You've said other suppliers are paid in other currencies and that these have been hedged.

On the face of it, it doesn't make sense. Perhaps you can explain further.

Old PeterleeProverb...Try reading what is written before being a smartarse.

We have Chinese suppliers...plural.

We pay some of them in sterling...but they then have to exchange that into other currencies......seriously, your CFO needs new staff!

I mentioned geographic space as your argument/ vision seems very one dimensional, almost Blackhall focussed...

I read what was written and you've not picked up my point.

Why would a potential cost increase of a low cost supplier (being an increase in payments in GBP to satisfy those Chinese suppliers) be enough to shutdown a business? The current exchange rate has resulted in under 4.5% less GBP to the RMB since February. Such a fluctuation in exchange rates would not normally be expected to shutdown a company (unless there were other factors).

Who doesn't miss it, although my personal favourite is the Austin Allegro

Sorry the jewel in the crown had to be the Austin Ambassador , lovely comfy car and loads of room, plus the engine was so easy to work on.

It needed to be, the amount of times they used to break down. According to someone I know who had one.

My favourite shitey old British car from yesteryear is the Hillman Avenger.

Although the above mentioned cars were no world beaters they were nowhere near as bad as the Morris Marina - a car that aimed to be mediocre and failed to meet it's target by some margin. The Allegro could have been a decent car with a bit more money spent on development, something Leyland management wouldn't do as it still wanted to pay dividends to shareholders while the business withered away beneath them. When you compare the Allegro and Princess/Ambassador with the, strangely much-loved, Ford Escort and Cortina, they were miles better. The fact that some Escorts versions (e.g. Mk 1 Mexico/Twin cam) are now valued at 30-40k is bonkers. I had an Escort and a mk1 Fiesta and they were the cheapest, nastiest things I've ever driven, shutting the doors sounded like two skeletons shagging in a biscuit tin.

My first car as a 17 year old was a bottom of the range Mini with wire pulleys for interior door handles and about 2 dials on the dashboard - very basic.

Can't remember what the engine size was but I do remember that going up to Newcastle past the Chester-le-Street services I had to drop it down to 3rd gear - 2nd if I had passengers!
