You wouldn't of been marra ! one of the most expensive pubs around here, their real ale is £3.50 a pint, though I am sure Chessington will laugh at that , very few local people use it, except the rich locals of Castle Eden maybe.

It is handy though for a pint after walking or cycling up the walkway, especially when warm enough to sit outside.

Still generally a big North/South price difference but increasingly it is becoming, what type of pub you drink in , what you drink, where you live, what you earn, regardless of geography. You can pay £5 for a pint of real ale in Leeds or Newcastle in a trendy Craft beer establishment or less than £4 for a pint of Fullers in a traditional London pub. I think if I lived in London, it would be Fullers, Sam Smiths or Wetherspoons only

I do that route quite regular but turn off at Hesledon then down the Coast Road then round the Headland then over the Marina past the domes along to the blue lagoon car park then past the golf course then back to the town centre.
A good 20 miler to test u fitness out.

Cycling not running.

Mr Elvis how did you start if you don't mind me asking?

I'm as unfit as I've ever been in my life right now and want to get in better shape, how did you begin five stones ago? You obviously didn't just one day run miles how do you build it up? I'm not saying I'm likely to achieve anything near what you have but a start would be nice!

(I have three more pint cans of Stella in the fridge and I will drink them before bed but tomorrow is Monday!!)

Loads of good diets on the internet.
If u can get past a few hunger pains for the first week youve done the hardest part.
As for exercise.
5 mins of AB exercises everyday will burn off loads of calories.
Loads of them ab exercises on you tube.

Personally i cant be arsed with that running just do plenty of swimming n cycling.

I used to run it regularly when I lived in Castle Eden great cover against rain for a mile or so before coast road bridge but can get wet in winter. Can be windy east of Hesleden and uninspired Shotton Industrial Estate to Haswell Plough. Good gentle incline run / walk or cycle though.

Started in 2014 with Couch-to-5k (Paul Gough Physio had it online..probably still out there!)

Built up to 5k literally running a lamppost, walking a lamppost.

After 3 week did first 5k Parkrun (31 minutes with Lord Smythe!)

Did Parkruns for a few weeks improving PB's every week. (my PB is 22;22)

Tried a few 10ks..got away with them (I've just ran Gateshead 10k in 50 minutes...first one I ever did was 1 hr 06)

Onto my third GNR this year, both my previous ones have been 2hrs-odd...I've targeted 1;55 this time around.

Ran my first ever Marathon last month (Brathay, Windermere) in 4hrs 25 mins.

You could easily do it...honestly, If I can (starting at 49 year old), you can.

Even I'm managing the running lark. And I don't even like running, never have. But I have lost about 8kg in 3 months and ran to Hart and back this morning before work. Three months ago I didn't even like driving up Hart Lane cos the hill was too big and the first run I did in April was less than 1k at the end of which I couldn't stand up.

P.S. That run / walk malarkey is for the birds

I find it really hard to run on the road having a dodgy ankle and done my acl twice on same leg. I turned my angle again the other month and couldn't walk for two days.
