It never turned up and we where ringing them and we where told it's on the way and we told them he was stood outside the people in the house had locked up and gone to bed, it eventually turned up 1.10

23 every time. Used them every Monday morning to darlo station for nearly 4 years, no problem. In fact last night we ordered our Saturday taxi to pick us up from studio at 23.45 turned up 20 minutes but didn't charge, how good is that

I will answer for him, Hackney carriages can pick up off the street and there fares are set by the council and displayed on the meter, private hire can charge a different amount as there is no meter

That's a misconception, at least that's what the PhD student who's thesis I examined said. Imagine that, a PhD thesis on the licensing of taxis (the lad used to drive one). The council don't set the fare; they set a maximum that can be charged, and most cabs choose to charge the maximum.

Correct. All yellow cabs must by law turn on the meter on EVERY trip but can charge anything up to the meter price.

When I use 23 I say it's going to train station and they always make sure it's either early or on time. I simply then tell them iv going somewhere else instead.

so after all of this my point still stands. Use 23 if you can.

Remember to tell the lovely yellow cab driver at the station you are only using him because you can.
