Statement from Russ also on the OS now - and also reassuring; makes it sound like he needs a break:

It could be just as simple as Russ decided that life is too short and time to do something else.

He lost his wife not that long ago and may have re-evaluated and is now prioritising other things like himself and his own health.

To be clear on that, if the alleged 'administrative oversight' was down to Russ himself then tough shit and off you go mate. If, on the other hand, Russ has resigned because HE is unhappy about the circumstances that led to late payment, then that really is a worry.

The club statement just put out by Mr. Coxall is reassuring, but I'm waiting with great interest for the reaction of lifelong Poolie, club president and friend of Mr. Green, Jeff Stelling.

For me this is why he resigned, some thing was going on he didn't know about re unpaid Tax Bill and wasn't prepared to get involved in, he was the Chief Executive and possibly could have been held to account by HMRC, people you don't want to be falling out with.

A) Doesn't Gilbert make Rugby Balls and kit?
B) In an earlier thread someone mentioned it was the last year of the Nike Kit Deal.

Ergo

Gilbert will be supplying kit with the new badge next season, for training and matchday wear etc. As Gilbert is now running the club, to minimalise costs for his sporting goods Empire, he will be using the youth teams after training as sewing machinists. Cheaper than outsourcing to Asia.

Think logically people. :confusion-confused: :confusion-seeingstars: :confusion-shrug:

I hope there is not concern over finances after a large turnover of staff for 2 years running, whoever said unpaid tax bill is a good shout, but you never get the full story when someone moves on.

The reliable source said he dident resign or leave by mutual consent.
But anyway onwards n upwards.
On the pitch it seems like Higgys putting together a team capable of challenging for a top 7 position.

At the end of the day we had a CEO in place because when IOR were in charge Hodcroft played no active role in running the club. Russ seemed to survive whilst many others at the club lost theirs or left while IOR were running the club down.

Now we have a chairman who appears to be actively running the club which sort of makes Green's position redundant anyway. On top of that if you take thins at face value, new manager and assistant, a number of signings sanctioned, new season ticket and turnstile system, new scouts, job positions advertised.

It doesn't smack of a club in trouble like it did when IOR were in charge. We could assume that the club are spending money they don't have but they don't appear to be trousering it as a fiddle it's going into the betterment of the team and the club. Strange behavior if they are con artists.

Russ Green is a proven liar and bullshitter, I won't repeat why it's been gone over before, I'm sure he's very amiable to meet and tells people what they want to hear. Maybe he's the one feeding all the rumors. It's interesting that another group who seemed to defend IOR and Green are all worried now when face value is the opposite of what they were defending previously. Time will tell but for me face value is things starting to be run correctly at the club, of course all lower league football clubs are running the gauntlet with finances constantly (As has always been I suppose) but made worse by the greed at the top in the premier league

A luxury we couldn't/can't afford? Totally agree. Mind, it would need Gary Coxall to move up here full-time and be at the club 8-10 hours a day (as Russ was...every day...). Hopefully that's exactly what he will do.

The "bullshitter" bit just goes with the job doesn't it? It's probably on the Job Description for CEO of a Lower League football club!

Also agree that things seem to be getting done at the club, on and off the pitch.

I just, like most, worry about more lack of stability at a crucial time...maybe there wasn't a "good time" to make such a change?

Either or, new season in a couple of weeks....we'll all be there.

Basically everyone who people wanted out of the club is now gone I believe. The club seems to be appointing young, hungry and ambitious staff and things are taking shape. (Are we still after as Assistant by the way or is Fleming that?)

With Coxall being down south im sure there is a role there for some one to fill Greens shoes if not at least on a part time basis?

Im sure they could pose in photos and give complimentary tickets away to 'mates' as well as Green did.

You had no qualms about nicking a tenner from a poverty stricken family, so wouldn't dare trust you with a company bank account.

The Chief Executive 'title' didn't exist years ago, it was Manager, Assistant Manager etc, the Health Service is full of very highly paid Chief Executives like wise our Council has one along with other Assistants all on salaries over a £100k.
The title gave the excuse for highly paid under worked people to be paid massive salaries just because of a name change.
I agree Green was running Pools as Hodcroft was rarely there but I don't think the club need him now, TBH he was probably only a glorified Wages Clerk?

Wages Clerk?

I doubt Russ does the payroll himself, but his JD would have included oversight of income and expenditure, maintaining licences and insurances, repairs and renewals to the ground and its buildings, media relations, liaising with the team management on contract negotiations and the rest, sponsorship, liaising with the FA, EFL, PFA, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Unless Coxall is going to become a full time Chairman and take over the day to day running of the club, HUFC will need a new Chief Executive, and it's really not a job for an ex-footballer like Ronnie.

The thing that disappears with the departure of RG is experience and knowledge of the machinations and politics of the football world.

Gary Coxhall by his own admission is purely a salesman. He has little experience of the singular world of football. Russ Green never did payroll but he did do a lot of networking within football and within local industry. speaking from personal experience he was always approachable and helpful. I know others have had issue with him on this board but I never did in my dealings with him.

I understand that Russ might have decided to spend more time enjoying life but I don't for a second believe that there is not more to it.

I wish him well.

I'd be more gutted if we lost Trevor Carson or painter. I'm sure we can find another businessman. Just pluck one from that London.

Maybe one who doesn't oversee 8 years of shit n nominate himself for awards

There's a huge endorsement for Coxall and co. from Russ in today's Echo and a lot of positive noises about the club's immediate future.

I know public statements are generally the last place to look for the inside story, but if Russ is hacked off it was always an option to damn with faint praise or make ambiguous comments. Still interested to hear what El Presidente Stelling has to say about him going.

I agree with mr I last post.
How many former employees have left my mutual consent.
Cooper ( Neale ) Rafferty etc!

Heard Mr Coxall is relocating to a posh estate in Hartlepool.
So sounds like hes totally commited to doing the best he can for Pools.

Had me doubts about him Early Doors but slowly but surely he seems totally commited to
taking us on to better times.

No I think he brought up that because he'd heard he was moving to the Town with his girlfriend and he was not too sure how his wife would take that news  He's probably looking for a house up here as it's going to be costing him a fortune in hotels ect but never going to be able to relocate full time while he's got business interests elsewhere.

Thread resurrection time I’m not normally a fan of this I’m calling this moment the beginning of the end.

I know Russ Green got loads of flack but compare him as a man and how he respected within the game to the people who have been involved in the club since. He knew what was coming he got out, somebody told he said at the time that he “didn’t know where the money was coming from or where it was going” Fast forward 18 months everyone that’s very apt, especially the second part.

Can I just add that I hope Goldberg and Coxall die in a freak boating accident.

He did us a great dis-service in delivering us to two sets of thieving gits, like everyone before he kept quiet, took the money and fucked off into the sunset. His loyalty was questionable before this bucket of shit happened.

Whilst I wouldn't wish him any harm we need to remember Russ's principal concern was looking after Russ.

I’d be interested to hear his side of that but I agree his role in the two takeovers deserves scruntiny. At the end of the day though Hodcroft was his boss so he’s as worthy of that scruntiny.
