Not sure how to take this. We could end up in the final v Arsenal, sctatchinghead Manure etc or get knocked out by a mainly youth team! Hmmmm!

i take it that its a load of shite n its the football leagues way of sneaking b teams into the league.

It started off as youth teams, now its changed to under 23's, plus 4 over age players.

So it'll be treat like a competitive reserve fixture.

Why any clubs voted for this is fuckin beyond me, it's like signing your own death warrant.

Didnt we get fined for it a few years ago? I think it was only about £800

Just tell them to deduct it from the extra money the premier league have donated to ruin the cup.

The carlisle director voted in favour of this and is now on the board of the football league.

Fancy that.

It's a complete farce, and I hope a fans boycott occurs. I definitely won't be attending any games, but then I'm 350 mile from the Vic, so it's a little difficult anyway!

I can see that this is a classic entryist tactic to get B teams into the Football League, with all that that entails in terms of devaluing the competition.

Unfortunately, in terms of the Division 3/4 Trophy (which most fans, including me, regularly give a miss to) I think the EFL are going to be able to point to an increase in attendances and media interest at the end of their little experiment.

Suppose Pools get Carlisle, Bradford and Sunderland Under 23s in their 'regionalised' group of four? And play the Mackems for a place in the knockout round? Could be a canny few in for that. Even allowing for the principled stay-aways.

And not all of the teams with category A youth sides want to be in it either http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-likely-turn-down-11576325#ICID=sharebar_twitter

This country seems to have gone into farce overdrive at the moment...

Why would they want their youth teams to play in the pointless cup?

Why do they even bother running it? For me I'd have the league and FA Cup and that's it.

The League/EFL Cup and League/EFL Trophy are pointless.

It gives teams like us a chance to get to Wembley and win a trophy, I'm a fan.

This 'revamp' might kill it off which would be a shame.

It may be my twisted logic, but allowing premier clubs U21's in a competition then changing the format, plus the changes to loaning players = You decide the longer term future about B teams in the EFL.

Cynical? :confusion-confused:

I hope I'm proved wrong.

Many big teams not interested n pulling out of this

Have the football league forgot to ask the big clubs if they want to be in this?

Oh the ironing. Get me my Bart Simpson picture

If I remember rightly in the 06/07 season we beat Rotherham, won the team of the round award and got fined for making too many changes which makes it a farce really. I think our prize for team of the round was only £200 of paint as well.

Hopefully these under whatever teams will get hammered ever game. I'd have thought it was a popular decision amongst some clubs due to the extra £1million in prize money .... I mean because it's for the good of the English football.

This is turning into comedy gold - looks as if Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, the two Mancs and Liverpool are all going to say no, which will no doubt cause the waverers to jump ship as well.

Unbelievable that the EFL managed to announce this without checking that the big lads wanted their kid brothers to come out to play.

Sack race anyone?

I hope to god all the prem teams reject it. As mentioned above, how the hell didn't they speak to the "big" clubs first before announcing this brilliant plan.

This new jpt efl whatever its called.
Whens the draw.
They seem to be given the big clubs a long time to decide wether they want to be in it.

I'm all for that idea. Pointless competition made even more pointless by the FA and a joke by those premier league clubs turning it down. Scrap it.

The draw is finally set for tomorrow.

According to 'Against League Three' there'll be at least SEVEN academy sides from the Championship in the draw.

Farce.

I've just seen that 'lovely lovely person' Greg Dyke talking on Sky Sports News, he reckons this is going to benefit the England team in the future basically stating he couldn't give a fuck about lower league clubs. He never really has explained how this will have any impact though.

We've all got to be strong and together on this and to try and get fans of the bigger clubs onside to support a full boycott of the competition, I'd love to see clubs like ours field youth teams as well. If this is deemed a success then it could seriously threaten the future of clubs like ours.

Not a fan of yhe proposed format but clubs do need financial support. With that in mind should fans just boycott the games against the Academy teams rather than other league 1/2 teams. It would certainly show the FA the supporters views.

Fingers crossed that takes off.

Be nice if we do the same or sub players off after 30 seconds.

Are the other board/facebook group etc against it too out of curiosity?

I'd stick a tenner in, proceeds to the Hartlepool United Supporters Trust or Youth Academy if Craig Hignett actually takes the competition serious.

Pools could always play their strongest team, and biggest fuckers, against this under 21 team, and kick the shit out out of them.

We all know these academy teams are not that strong. And are usually full of one touch wannabee stars.

It could be carnage. It could also be very funny.
