Mother of two killed by a nutter whilst doing her job. RIP

Doesn't matter what side of the political divide you're on this in an absolutely appalling thing to happen, just goes to show when you get up in the morning you never know what sort of nutcase you will encounter. All too prevalent these days.

Not seen anything about this but has the murderer been captured or killed and what nationality was he?

I've seen some horrendous comments knocking about regarding this, I seen somebody comment yesterday how it's the governments fault she was killed.

Also allegedly the killer shouted something about Britain First before he committed the act, Britain first have released an embarrassing statement saying "they are angry that the entire group are being tarnished by one mans actions" The irony is off the scale with that statement.

The reaction of 99.99999% recurring of people hearing about the murder of Jo Cox is that it's a tragic and senseless act. It's no surprise to hear that a handful of t-r-olls and fanatics who are active on social media have come out with foul comments, but I struggle to see the point of drawing anyone else's attention to their disgusting nonsense, even to condemn it.

It sounds as if her assailant had serious mental health issues, but no doubt the full facts about his state of mind and possible influences will come out at his trial.

If we quite rightly highlight the fact that radical preachers brainwash vulnerable people into committing horrific acts of violence, should we not also highlight the fact Far Right organisations and journalists are doing the same ?

If anything good comes out of this latest tragedy, should it not be that society as a whole, or at least the vast majority of us who are decent and tolerant, rethink some of the language being used almost routinely these days, when describing fellow human beings ? I'm not in any way trying to make political capital out of this, but the truth is that this whole Referendum thing has been ugly, both sides have resorted to slinging insults, the country as a whole seems to have become more fractured by it, and it's ended being a debate on immigration, which has again heightened emotions.

The only people that profit from it are the extremists at either end of the scale.

Like I say it's been another depressing week, and you do wonder where it will all end.

Have to agree entirely with Chip on this one. Some of the headlines in the Daily Mail and the Daily Express, over the last few years, vilifying some of the most vulnerable people in the world, have been a shameful embarrassment on an almost daily basis. The problem is the readers of such trash think they are reading a "quality" newspaper, superior to The Sun and The Mirror when, in fact, their rants are far more dangerous as many take them seriously as well-researched journalism.
This whole way the referendum has been conducted has been sickening and will have a nasty, lingering legacy no matter what the result.
The real tragedy is that we have lost a hard-working, principled M.P. who seemed to be a shining example of what we all wish our representatives to be.
