Without putting a negative vibe on things, after watching England's performance last week against Portugal, we would struggle to beat Albania.

Woy's obsession with Wayne Wooney is sickening, he's like Maradonna without the skill or guile at this level

Hate them - in Rugby - that tw*t Max Boyce etc.

But thought they played well and deserved it - credit to Coleman, a bloke I've never liked, but...he did well....

That Allen has some legs, worked his bollocks off, we should put in a bid for him, I love Wales and the passion they show, where as we have show ponies and overpaid players rolf

They could do no wrong but did themselves proud. Genuinely worried about playing them and not much more confident about playing Slovakia.

Gotta be fair though Mr Crab, England were by far the better team and should've had the game won by half time.

I would also say England tonight performed better than both Wales and Slovakia and on that performance would fancy us to beat both of them.

They will, however, be completely different games....

England played well tonight apart from the period just after half time and that rubbish defending in injury time. We should have and deserved to win the game 2 or 3 nil. The back four is the worry, I reckon Russia got in our box once and scored.

I totally agree but defensively we weren't tested tonight, Bale will be an entirely different problem. Slovakia have some handy players also.

They'll also not sit in two banks of 4 so it could be better for our attacking formation

He won't if we dominate the ball as much we did tonight. He's obviously a great player but in open play I can't see him getting much of the ball. Half an hour into the game tonight England had completed 120 passes to Russia's 36. Nothing to panic about in that performance we actually have a decent side at this tournament and Woy can't be slagged off for the team he picked, which was very positive.

Rooney was far and away the best player on the pitch yesterday. He's also scored eleven goals in his last 14 games for England. But Hodgsons a doyle for picking him.

Rooney was quality last night, he's matured as footballer and a person I'm not sure why gets the stick he does.

Agreed, fully endorsed his move into midfield after seeing him play it for Man Utd at the back end of the season, albeit only for a few games. He's a quality footballer, not the player he was but still has plenty to offer.

His move into midfield could extend his career a good few years, and once he learns how to play the role properly, I fully believe he'll do very well there. It also allows us to play play one of our many talented forwards who are ahead of him in that role (but who I think Hodgson may still have sacrificed if he didn't consider Rooney in midfield).

Well Gareth Gobshite Bale has done Englands team talk for them.

If they cant go out and win this game now, against inferior players on paper, then English Football is definitely worse than most people thought.

I would love to be an English player in this game. And Bale would be targetted for a few extremely naughty tackles.

And maybe the odd loose elbow.

This game may well decide Woys future. Hopefully he will think about the team more than he thinks about Wayne Rooney.

Rooney was by far our best player, better than I've seen Wilshere play the same position for England.

He was excellent on Saturday and I think he will be a very useful midfielder for us.

Stats suggest this also..

I would pick Rooney. To suggest he was our best player though on saturday, or that he is one of the best three midfielders around is stretching things.

Dier was man of the match, and both full backs were better than him.

The trouble with picking Rooney, and I am doing the same, is that the formation is being changed just to get him in somewhere.

I would swap him with Sterling, and bring in Wilshire. But I have said this all along.

As usual Emgland believe certain players are undroppable. Almost like the wholecountry would fall apart without them.

They did it with Bryan Robson in the early 80's. Robson had to play, captain fantastic and all that, despite Glen Hoddle being ten times the player.

We then did it with Beckham.

We then followed that up with insisiting on playing Gerrard and Lampard for far too long.

And now its Rooneys turn.

It certainly has all the necessary ingredients doesn't it?

I think it's difficult to argue Hodgson should change things too much for the game against Wales. I thought Wilshere should have come on earlier against Russia as a replacement for Sterling. If anyone is to be dropped for the Wales game it will probably be him. I don't think Rooney should be made to take his place though and someone brought into where Rooney played against Russia. He had a fine game and whilst, as I have said elsewhere, it is unlikely that Wales will give him as much time on the ball as Russia did he should at least be allowed to start again in that position. Things can be changed around during the game if necessary.

It will be as tough as England make it. If they play 100% they will win comfortably.

As always, England talk up the opposition to ridiculous levels.

I hope we beat them, and then Russia beat them. Just to see Bale cry.

Russia were missing their two starting centre midfielders and hardly pressed Rooney all game. His passing was very good throughout though and deserves his start in the next game. On a night where Hodgson got a lot wrong, playing Rooney in the position he did was a cracking decision.

Wales will of course be a totally different beast with Ramsey and Allen in there- they could take him out of the game.

Hodgson did choose Rooney as the first sub to adjust the team which could suggest he is willing to drop him and will only play him on merit. Rooney, like a few others, looked spent in the second half and needed to be hooked.

Say Rooney had started in the number 10 role, had a stinker and we lost, AND had kept Vardy/Rashford etc out of the team, the press would have crucified Hodgson for even taking him. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Relative silence since Rooney's MOM performance...

Gotta be honest, Bale wasn't at his best the other day I don't think (the game not what he said in the press :) ). Yes he scored the goal but you must admit that was definitely more a case of goalkeeper error, if he'd not moved he'd have caught it...sorry keepers don't do that anymore do they....

He gave it away twice for their goal and there was that run he made from around the half way line and it was two on two.....surely a chance for him to show his World class? I expected him to skin their defender at least twice before standing on the ball like Kanchelskis when he was at Rangers, giving the keeper the 'eyes' and slotting it in. But no.

He's a spent force.

Rubbish. I'm better.

As for England, Walker was probably my man of the match although there were a few contenders.
