So everyone who goes to a nightclub should carry a gun! No policy I could find on how heavily armed you should be when visiting a museum, but I imagine the same 'logic' applies.

You know I overheard a conversation like this in the security queue at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport in December obviously not long after the terrorist attack there. 5 or 6 middle aged respectable looking Americans basically saying that it couldn't have happened in America because the terrorists would have had restaurants and bars of people packing weapons who would have shot back at them. Then a long dialogue about how it's their right to keep a gun and their family safe and God help anyone who trespasses they will be shot on the spot.

At a time when the death toll caused by weapons was so apparent I was pretty gobsmacked to hear people thinking that it there were a load of other people shooting them it could have made it safer rather than even more of a blood bath.

I'm totally anti guns not because I'm some 'lefty' like the comments above say but because quite simply it's very easy to kill people and animals without having to make an effort. Like these fuckers who go shooting elephants for sport, I would like to see how many of them would give it a go armed with a knife or a spear!!!

I work with American's and they defend their right to possess firearms because of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

First of all, this dates back to 1791, probably when people needed to defend themselves from them pesky natives who kept trespassing on their land...

Secondly the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution reads:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
