I had a double hernia in my abdominal wall 2 years ago. The surgery left me with a 6 inch wound that required 20 staples which was painfull for the first week, the car journey home was horrendous felt every bump in the road but after that things improved. The healing process took in total 8 weeks before I was able to move around unrestricted, the same operation in the groin area I am led to believe is even worse.

Sounds odd, where you having it done?

Obviously keyhole requires less time to recover so hopefully they opt for this. Mine was open and had numerous problems but like I say, back to work in 6 weeks. Worst problem I encountered was shitting, make sure they give you something to empty your bowels as it took me best part of a week to force anything out!

I had a double groin operation in 1998. Full slash job, none of that cissy keyhole stuff. 3-4 nights in hospital.
The only pain was when I had to use my abs. It took about a week before I could hold myself upright properly, then everything was fine.
Unfortunately I started pumping iron again too soon, which set the full heal back a couple of weeks.

Ouch! Would you prefer to be known as Iron Monty in future?

Guessing Mutley won't be at risk of making the same mistake.

Might be able to help you out there Mr Mutley - I've had a prolapsed disc (from playing football...which takes the injuries this last season to four) for the last two months so have been taking Tramadol, Amitriptaline (spelling?) and Methacarbamol but as a result my trips to the toilet have significantly reduced and when I do go it takes fookin time to pass what feels like a house brick but on closer inspection is a grain of rice.....so I take Movicol.

It did the trick.....initially didn't think it was working so took more.....then had the shits.....now I take it once every other day and all is ok as far as that is concerned...

Hope that helps :)

When did you have the op 2003?

You didn't move much around that time.

Explains a lot
