Does anyone know what the latest is with Woodsy? I thought it was decision time about 2 weeks ago. Would hate to see him go.

A few days ago someone asked Coxall on twitter and he said we're still working on the out of contract players.

Think he is getting released, we need to watch our finances after the millions it's going to cost sending our lads to Tenerife for a few days.

Also not forgetting the £250k it's going to cost to change the badge.

Common sense deadline was 2 weeks ago and certainly it had to be today 1 month notice period now in operation for most contracts start 1st July. My summary is Bingham, Duckworth and Woods are all in the exit lounge.

The money they are spending would be far better spent in securing Woods, explain to me the benefits of going to Tenerife are ?

Did you get dry bummed in Tenerife or something ? What have you got against the place ?

Where did your players go when you were in charge of a league club ?

You do realise we can only spend 70% of our income on transfers and wages? The other 30% can be used for things like the Tenerife trip.

Or put simply, one doesn't affect the other.

The other thing is that Spain is a cheap country compared to the UK. Even after adding the cost of flights it probably costs about the same as going to one in the UK. The other thing is it makes us look like a more professional outfit to potential signings - decent training facilities and a professional outlook make a difference when you're trying to sign players who have a few very similar offers to consider.

Apparently Woods has been holding back on signings new contract due to concerns over the possibility of Higgy leaving for Blackburn and stated he would not sign until Blackburn job was filled. Woods is believed to be on holiday at the moment but will sign on his return.

Other player are thought to have had concerns over the rumours of Higgy going to Blackburn.

If this is true it does explain why there has been some patients regarding the deadline for the out of contract players.

I don't think the £5k - £8k it's going to cost going to Tenerife will secure Woods though, the lads have always went away pre-season and it's no different now.

I have heard woods is leaving because its tenerife and not ibiza.

But he wants to stay long enough so that he gets the tenerife trip as its better than nowt.

It would've been quicker to just post a link to The Mail website.

I have had 4/5 long term Winter Holidays in Tenerife, visited La Caleta, fantastic facilities, never had the good fortune to get 'dry bummed', must of went to the wrong bars.
I just can't see the benefit, 4 hour flight there and back, training in a hot climate for a few days. What benefit was it when Cooper took them al to Spain, bugger all.
My footy club played loads of pre season games and it paid dividends years ago, my team Pools !!

Your a bit out of touch with the costs of going to Tenerife, currently around £300 a passenger for a flight. I assume there will be at least 20 going plus the kit although they will provide the balls and the goalposts I presume. Then there's the Accommodation, I reckon won't be far short of £25k.

4/5 days in Tenerife is hardly unlikely to attract any one, it's what goes in the bank and the length of contract there offered.

Fair enough, even if it costs £20k it still doesn't really matter. Reading Higgy's comments today Woods is going to sign when he is back from holiday so the Tenerife trip doesn't impact that at all.

Clubs up and down the country go on tours pre-season, go abroad, go on a little trip, i'm not sure its the huge deal you think it is, and i'd trust the 92 clubs that go on a trip over your theory.

It's good for morale, it's good to get a week with just the players to work with them.

I'm not sure it warrants the 61 posts you've made about it already.

Mr Ripper my post would have been even quicker had been able to create a link to the Northern Echo Website.

Not very good with stuff like that, always seems to go wrong.

If anybody want to point me to a website that can give me some tuition on creating these links please do, it will have to be on the lines of Computers for Dummies.

A week for 30 people in a British hotel would be a lot more expensive than the same in Tenerife even taking into account the flights cost. You couldn't guarantee good training weather either.

We don't play football in brilliant weather in the UK, that's the problem nowadays the footballers are a bunch of 'soft s***** having to be wrapped up in cotton wool in case they catch a cold.
Put the money towards buying the Vic or reducing Season Tickets and.Admission prices
