Me and our lass 'eloped' to Gretna Green on Sunday 10th, followed by a week in Lindisfarne/Scotland. Got back last night, knackered but chuffed to bits.

If anyone is contemplating getting married, I'd thoroughly recommend not telling anyone about it till you've done it. It was going to be just the two of us, but we thought it would be a bit shan not involving our parents, so they came along with our lasses sister and her best mate.

As me dad was my best man, we had a small stag do in Gretna the night before, which involved drinking in the hotel bar, before hunting for a chip shop. The only one in Gretna was closed, so we settled for a Chinese.

Now me dad is knocking on, and can't hold his piss in like he used to. On the way back to the hotel, I had to stop him from having a slash in a churchyard, which was quite exposed as it was still light. Just as well, as what was probably the only police patrol car in Gretna drove past a few seconds later. I can imagine me mam and our lass kicking right off if he'd had to have a night in the cells.

When her Hawkladyship & I got married we just had my mate and her mate as witnesses in the registry office, we then drove to Southern Ireland in our 1953 'sit up and beg' Anglia. We sent both sets of parents postcards & at the end said we'd got wed. Anyway we are looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary the day before the new season begins. I've asked her if she wants a romantic weekend in Luton, she said no (well I've abbreviated to 'no' anyhow).
Congratulations to you both - have a long and happy marriage from both of us.
