Right. I need the Bunkers advice on something.

I was approached by someone on Linkedin, someone that wants to meet me, to promote the business he works for. They are a huge company, and could be someone my company should be dealing with.

But, and its a huge BUT:

I had a read of his prfile and he starts by saying this:

The "thruster organisor" of the leadership team. An exceptionally driven and tenacious Senior Manager with the capabilities to drive organisations forward.

Advice please. Do I really want to be dealing with someone that writes this stuff about themselves?

No.

It's 'organiser' so he's clearly doesn't pay great attention to detail.

Yes. Extremely driven and tenacious thrusters don't have time to worry about spelling when there is driving teams forward to be done. Just don't get involved in any thrusting yourself and it will be fine.

You need the help of a thrusting organisor to help you make decisions more thrustingly.

Isn't a 'thrusting organisor' just an illiterate pimp?

My advice for what it is worth,

Scenario 1) This Linkedin contact is an attractive female and has offered to take you out for lunch to discuss possibilities. My advice accept, at your age this doesn't happen very often and it may be your last chance

Scenario 2) This Linkedin contact is a male, is business driven and wants inside info on your company to make a sale. Tell your boss about the contact ask him if you should make an introduction if it benefits the company. The boss will see you as an insidious little creep but have you marked down as a trusted company man.

Either way win win

Its a bloke.

I doubt this bloke is business driven. I think he is more likely to be selfishly driven.

What I didnt mention previously is that I worked for the same compnay as him 2009-11. He realy should have realised that, as he would know that if we speak, I will be rip the piss out of him, because of the profile, and pull his so-called track record to bits.

Then I might offer him a deal, slightly better for me than he wants, as I may tell his boss about the ridiculous profile.

I worked for a bank for 20 years and when you looked at colleges Linked In profiles or when going for internal job applications, it looked like they were re inventing the wheel every day.

Some are staggeringly funny. Others are truly sad.

Linkedin has its uses but not like this fella uses it.

He didn't; autocorrect actually worked, for once.

I have a Linkedin profile, don't really use it at all. When you see some of the shite people write about themselves is cringy, it's basically the text equivalent of masturbating over a photo of yourself.

Linked In wants me want to head butt my fireplace into tiny pieces. It's one of the worst things about the internet. Truly staggering levels of wankery on there.

It is indeed. Its also got some very useful uses though too.

Like getting me in contact with someone that helped get me my current job.

I actually enjoy reading the profiles though. They are sickeningly funny.

I've just wasted 5 minutes of my day reading about the 'thruster organiser' - typically business management theorist rubbish (and I'm speaking as a business graduate who holds very similar qualifications as the person whose profile is in question...).

I note that the official definition of thruster organiser is "likes to push forward and get results", which for me sounds a bit like Joe Allon or Andy Saville. The "Joe Allon" of the leadership team sounds way better.....

My final thought is that I wouldn't do business with the company in question if they were the last ones on earth, never mind the fact that they employ what appear to be academics :)

well I havent responded to him, and dont intend to.

He would quickly realise he hated me anyway within five minutes of a conversation starting. I would bring up his profile within one minute. the next four would be a nightmare for him.

After that.........................he would wish he hadnt bothered.

A bit like you lot.
