UK, BBC, Sitcom, Colour, 1984
Starring: Paul Barber, Alan Igbon

A black slant on writer Alex Shearer's earlier sitcom Sink Or Swim The northerner brothers (actually half-brothers) this time were Malcolm, an unexceptional individual, and Sheldon, a dreadlocked Rastafarian with a deep distrust of the establishment. Their volatile sibling relationship was exacerbated when Malcolm joined the police force.

*** ***** **** was one of the first British sitcoms to portray black characters with depth and complexity. The two lead actors were encouraged to work out their own scenes together, in an attempt to secure a realistic edge to their conversations and arguments, and they duly succeeded in suggesting the ties that unite family members irrespective of individual characteristics. Despite this, the public did not express any great love for the series and it failed to return.

Indeed Mr Glasses,
Have you heard the album Frontline by a band called Black Roots which refers to Malcom & Sheldon living on the frontline ?

I've never heard of it! I can't pretend to have seen all TV, but I usually have a good idea, where was it on?

I can remember Kelly Monteith was good, without any great detail. But The Frontline and Prospects don't mean a thing to me.
