I reckon we're safe already. 11 points clear of York, who only have 8 games left. They've averaged well under a point per game up to now, so unless they appoint a Ronnie-esque escape artist manager, we're out of reach.

I can't see us losing many of our last ten games now, the turnaround under Iggnet has been fantastic. Hopefully he'll be given some snodgers to spend over the summer.

No Chance

Cloughie was on here a few weeks back saying we were doomed, so I'm backing that.

If Cloughie says it, it must be true. After all, he was spot on about Nelson....

Thought after the Dagenham game one more would do it. Two draws added to that I think we are comfortable now.

International call-ups, they have two Trinidad players I think and someone from the Congo

I notice he says we looked tired, so wonder if he will freshen things up a bit now that there is very little pressure on us and give him a chance to look at those on the bench etc and decide their future? Can't wait to see what Hignett can do in the transfer market once he had released a few etc. Especially if he has some money....

Only releasing a few? I'd be happy if he was given the same money, we have a squad of 30 and only a 2 or 3 of them can really be classed as kids so by just having a 'normal' sized squad would free up a fair bit of cash that could be used. Obviously extra money like Coxall said would be available after January's failed attempts would be even better.

Assuming we lose Jackson, gray and Luke James back to their own clubs, that is quite a big part of the team that needs replacing although i can see luke signing permanently, hignett clearly likes what he brings to the team even without scoring.

I hope rob Jones gets himself fit as I'd like to know if he is worth a punt for next season.

Definite room for improvement in the centre of midfield and would also like to see if we could get Harry Kane in, perhaps a cheeky bid with the FA cup money sctatchinghead

Also heard that Hignett wants to change the club from top to bottom, pretty much everyone on the backroom staff who aren't his men are gone.

I'd imagine Mr Dibble and Mr Offshore will be pleased by this news! We might even have people in charge of our youth set up who have played the game, Hignett wants to replicate on a smaller scale how Boro's set up is ran.

He has also been knocked back twice in a bid to bring Colin Cooper in as assistant

Why would Dibble be pleased by the news he wants to change things from top to bottom at the club?

Because he has been critical of the youth set up for years, and by all accounts Hignett wants to completely change it.

Oh right, ok mate just wondered. Just out of interest, why would Dibble be critical of the youth set-up if he didnt know how it was run? Or is he a coach down there?

Well if I had something that was designed to produce something and it hadn't produced anything for years I would say it was in need of root and branch reform (Even if I do have pickled onions for eyes )....

What a boring end to the season it's going to be without a great escape on.

it could be argued that the youth system has produced more in the last 5 year than it has in a long time.

James
Walker
Hawkins
Richards
Jones
Smith

Keiron Green & Josh Nearney are on the periphery and Jack Blackford has had a trial at Man City a few weeks ago.

it's not perfect by any means, but that's not the worst record in the world

The 11 to be released then, simply based on the fact Hignett isn't playing them:

Harry Worley
Nelson-addy
kudos oyenuga
Scott Fenwick
Scott Harrison (not had a sniff of the bench since his poor showing at rovers)
Martin woods
Dan Jones
Not seen Josh nearney, smith or green but I guess it depends if any other youngsters coming up are good enough to push them out.
Bingham as well unless he's under contract.

I'd maybe keep Harrison and Jones, the rest I wouldn't be bothered about. Harsh on Fenwick, but I don't think he fits with Hignett's preferred style of play.

I'd be surprised if Bingham only got a year contract.

Richards and Duckworth will be out of contract as well so I can at least see one of them two go as well.

I really think we need to be ruthless if we are going to step on and challenge for promotion. Will woods really make a difference?

Yes John, I'd like to see York finish above Stevenage. We can clamber over a few more yet I think.

Would love them to finish above Stevenage but I can't see it. If they do I really don't think they would catch us.

I see Ronnie said on Twitter (not sure how reliable he can be, but don't see why he would lie) that only 5 (ish) of the players are out of contract at the end of this season.

He seems to be loving it. Tweets before/after every game giving praise. Still tweeting Coxall too, so it can't have been a bad break up. He does tweet about Tranmere and Rotherham too, though.

Although, he took his Mrs' to Scarborough for the weekend and donned his Pools coat. Can't see that sitting well in Yubep's fashion scale.

That coat should have been handed back upon termination of employment. No wonder we're being priced out of players.
