A man of integrity too, refused to go to the 78 World Cup due to the murderous regime in Argentina.

A true legend, Cruyff helped revolutionize football. The Netherlands were, virtually, unplayable in 1974 - until they reached the final unfortunately.

I thought that too but it wasn't the reason. As is says on Wiki, "Cruyff stated to the journalist Antoni Bassas in Catalunya RĂ dio that he and his family were subject to a kidnap attempt in Barcelona a year before the tournament, and that this had caused his retirement" from international football in 1977.

He was that good a player his son played for Barcelona and Manchester United because he shared the surname, if he was called Jordi Forsure (sorry don't know many Dutch surnames that aren't famous footballers and Frank would be distasteful) he'd have been released from the Ajax academy when he was 8.
