My granda is still alive and has always said how proud he is of me for taking pride in my footwear.

My Granda passed away a few year back but he was a fan of Pringle patterned socks so I don't he would have any issue with my choice of sock wear.

My other Granda was cremated with his ashes scattered in the North Sea so he is unable to turn in his grave.

There's a reason grandparents commonly buy children socks at Christmas.

They know. They care.

Can you still buy Burlington socks? They were very trendy and pricey when I was younger. Most of all they were very comfy. However I am now firmly in the DSE, messers Fireball and Hamster have converted me.

The point is we can now buy quality hosiery, at reasonable prices, that our grandparents could only have dreamed about. In fact, if the British Army had had decent (and stylish) socks in WWII it could have been all over 2 years earlier.
The Duchamp etc socks tend to be neglected by upmarket Yartlepool chavs because they think quality has to have a name written on it (e.g. Ralph Lauren, Tommy Headfucker et al), daft bastards who, if they won the lottery, would buy hideous new Ferrari's, Rolls-Royce's or Bentley's (and paint them stealth fighter matt black) rather than beautiful old ones. They would also live in godawful ersatz Scarlett O'Hara-ish plantation mansions at Wynyard Park. Feck 'em, their loss is our gain.

New Balance are a good trainer if you like a sturdy walk with the dog. Expensive but they get the job done.

Onitsuka Tigers are the way forward, its like walking on a road made from Scarlett Johansson's arse.

Dear Mr Fireball,

I was hoping you could help me with my sock problems. Whenever I go out on a Saturday night, before I leave the house, my mother always tells me to put a sock on it. I keep telling her, I always put a sock on it mum (A Japanese one between you and me, but she thinks they're from home bargains... Silly woman) but lately she's been getting worried about what I do with my socks, and if I'm honest the cotton/polyester blend is beginning to give me a rash... that reminds me I should really see my GP about that. But my main problem is the inquisitive look I receive from my female friend when I pull out my sock. I reassure them, that it's only the finest Japanese cotton, but it is at this very point they tell me I shouldn't use a sock. They say socks are boring (but we know better don't we?) But anyway, I was wondering is there another sock you could recommend for the job? I've been looking at Chup socks, I'm just worried they might be a bit too small for me. I have big feet.

Thanks in advance.

Pirlo

Why do blokes wear shorts in the middle of winter? Apart from playing sport there is no need. These are generally blokes with more excess skin than normal.

I'm wearing my Duchamps today. Navy Blue with Light Blue toes and heels. As Bishop are at home tonight they could be my lucky socks. Also today I went to the cashpoint and have some extra money available. I think therefore I will buy some new Duchamp socks later, they are really comfy.

Ms Grabec that is my Sunday attire, best job in the world BTW, only work a Sunday morning and be finished by the time the pub opens! Don't even have to use my own script, just Plagarise from that Bible!

He's not a real bishop, he's a sock ponce in ecclesiastical clothing.

Men's socks should be black at all times, unless a sports activity is being undertaken.

Any type of pattern and colour away from the sports field is a clear indication that the wearer is the worst kind of social deviant - a golfer.

My grandad fought the Japanese in the Burmese jungle during the second world war. He said that Japanese soldiers would lie hidden in the undergrowth, and would be able to tell by a quick feel of a passing boot which side they were on.

Thankfully he survived that time, and played his part in liberating the world from intolerance, fighting for the right for people to wear whatever they like on their feet, without fear of being cut down.

Saying that, I don't think he would have approved of flamboyant socks, no matter how cheap they were.

Weirdly I was in TK Maxx tonight to buy some more Duchamps. I think they are the future as on Tuesday there were a good few packs. Today there was only 2 packs left. Maybe the population of Bunkerites has been to Bishop coz Hartlepool has nearly sold out.

Anyway my new 3 pack contains a Royal Blue pair with Orange toes/ heels, a Navy Blue pair with Orange Diamonds and a (Grey) pair that has a "Block paving" design with black lines with some Orange Diamonds.

Excellent, Bishop. But you mustn't stop there, y'know.

Now you have to work out the right socks for putting on horse bets, completing lottery tickets and how to avoid detection while shop-lifting.

TBF Monsieur Toulouse I did have to go to that place that would never catch on, coz it had trendy shops. Whatever happened to the Metro Centre? Is it still there? :confusion-confused:

Benitez is a foreigner so can't be expected to know any better.

Anyway, Seve Ballesteros is a national hero in Spain, so wearing calcetíns afeminados is par for the course.

I recommend a research trip so you can verify it personally. Asturias or Galicia in mid-winter would be perfect - plenty of sock wearing then.
