Cant believe how many people are in favour of it, although by the looks of them, i'd be interested to know how many have been in there and seen the view.

Atmosphere is dictated by how much excitement there is on the pitch, and how much booze you've sank beforehand - not by the height of a tin roof.

From 2000 to 2007 the Town End was rocking week in week out. End of.

Only if they put the rust back under the roof.

I suppose if the away end became part of the Millhouse we could offer an increased capacity (or reduced) if the demand dictated it.

It's the only obstructed view in the ground though and probably has the least facilities.

It could work in terms of atmosphere though, as I'd imagine the people who sing in the part of the Millhouse that would become the away end would go in the Rink End and would generate more noise.

I think it's a decent idea, even though I'm not sure how many Pools fans would choose to sit in the Rink End long term.

Put the away fans in part of the Millhouse and then open both the Rink End and Town End up.

That way we can swap ends at half time just like back in the 80s!

I think a lot of you would be suprised by the state of the seats!!!!
If they don't revert to terracing they would need replacing so it would probably be just as cheap to go back to terracing!!!!

It could be a bit shit. People who want to stand behind the goal already do now in the Town End. People who want to stand down the side stand on the Millhouse. There is a relatively high probability that opening both ends to home fans would just split the people who want to be behind the goal and have a negative effect on atmosphere. Furthermore why the fuck would we want to start giving part of the Millhouse to away fans? Apart from the turnstile logistics it's the best part of the ground. If we were going to turf them out from behind the goal stick the fuckers in the Clarence Road stand with the sun in their eyes.

The Cyril Knowles isn't big enough to use as the away end, the full stand has less than 1,600 seats in it.

Agree about the Cyril Knowles but would also like to see terracing back in the rink end if it's not too much to ask, seats above terracing would be

Surely they could just give blocks of seats as required.

How would you segregate that? You'd need on either side some sort of permanent fence behind the stand and you couldn't give away fans the full stand due to the directors box, family enclosure and hospitality. It's impossible. Also you have the centenary lounge that is packed at half time every home game. One or two blocks doesn't offer enough capacity unless for certain games you gave the away fans errrr... The Rink End! Part of the Millhouse is the only other place that could house away fans realistically.

If we really need to change things give them half of the Town End and part of Clatence Road. Just like the old days.

On reflection I think more people would be put out by the change than would actually use the Rink End. It's a no from me.

I've no doubt you could segregate the blocks nearest the rink end if you needed to but only when there was sub 300 fans which is probably half the number of clubs that visit. I definitely wouldn't give up the town end or mill house and so as you point out, that just leaves the rink end if clubs bring more than 350.

yeovil, Barnet and morecambe are all grounds that don't open up the away terrace when there's a small away support expected. Although they just leave it empty rather than provide it to the home fans.

So there you have it :confusion-shrug:

Yes but they have closed in stands with covered concourses with dividing walls and gates, it's simple to the segregate. That block of seats would also need catering and toilet facilities. We'd have to build all of that, is it really worth the expense especially when a new Rink End is planned anyway isn't it?

I Think if they just try it for a season or two and see what happnds its the only way.
you could debate (all points considered) this till the cows come home or pigs fly... I remember the half time shuffle between ends, people will always stand where they want.

I used to stand in the Rink End until Gibson decided he to wanted to sit there, and then I went on the half way line Millhouse, until we put the dugouts there, crazy, but I do remember one of the Bolton players who thought he was the hardest men in the world and started larrying on if he was it, he soon shit himself when he turned round facing away from the millhouse and half a morrels pork pie hit the dug out it sounded like a brick had hit it and he cowered? for cover, what a waste of a lovely pie Hmmm... any way back to the here and now.
in Town End now or is that the FE/ Fa TA BA stand?

The only way I can see it working is if we have one of those tarpaulin barriers to segregate fans. I can't see where away fans could go other than one corner of the Rink End. Would need even more police. Non-starter.

A few years ago before segregation Pools fans walked round the track to change ends at half time.

If it's gonna cost more money policing/stewarding/removing seats etc then no thanks.

Spend the money elsewhere.

Think it was more than a few years ago since they could do that like.

In the 80's there was a big metal fence right down the middle of the Town End to keep fans apart, even reintroducing that probably be some Health and Safety rules that would still prevent fans changing ends at half time.

Didn't they replace that with a fence and a door which only was open if big away crowds? I only remember it ever being open when we played Birmingham they where flying and I think we beat them 1-0. I was a nipper at the time though.
