Well here we go again and this will be a tough game, how ever i think Hignett will now start to grind out results (hopefully)
My team to play would be

Carson
Carroll Jackson Rob Jones Magnay
James Gray Walker/Bates Featherweight Thomas
Paynter

Fingers crossed that if we dont give away the soft goals like we have been lately i do believe we are in with a good chance of all 3 points.

Id prefer Carroll at left back and Magnay at right back tbh.

I know Jones says he's ready if need be but he's only played in 15 League and Cup games since the start of season 2014-15 and last played in a League match for Donny at the end of September.

I doubt if he's anywhere near ready to start a League game for Pools on the back of two weeks' training and a friendly.

Last 10-15 minutes maybe. Extra defender if there's anything to hold onto and emergency striker if we're chasing the game.

I dont think we have time to wait until he's match fit, he's gunna have to get his match fitness in games.

He's 36 so he should know by now how to look after himself, it sounds like he's kept himself fit and he's got through the newcastle friendly well enough, it wasnt a full team but it was young kids and de jong so it's a decent test.

Suppose it depends on the individual.

Then again, super Stevie Howard had played 88 times for Leicester in the two seasons before he joined Pools - but he was fit for sweet FA by the time we were paying his wages.

I blame the manager for not trying him at right back.

I wouldn't even consider not starting him. He's only going to get match fit by playing, Akinde is a big strong lad who bossed Harrison at the Vic, his confidence must be low to start with after Tuesday night and the season he's had. It would be a bigger risk starting him than Jones for me as sad as it is to say.

It'll butcher his confidence completely if he's dropped for a bloke that hasn't played since September

Harrison has not played since last season, he's been dreadful. We need points not sentiment.

If Bates is passed fit and stays fit till kick off I'm sure he'll play alogside Jackson.

If not, it's double squeaky bum time whichever way the manager calls it.

...................Carson..................

Magnay.....Jones....Jackson...Carroll

..........Feathrstone....Bates...................

....................Walker......................

James............Paynter........Thomas

There's no way Harrisonwill start ahead of Rob Jones. Hignett is no fool. There is no comparison between the two. One is a good journeyman pro who knows his way around the Fourth Division and the other is a lumbering hot head one step away from a red card.

You're probably right about the way Hignett will call it and definitely right on the comparison.

I only pointed out (since no-one else had) that there's no way on God's earth that Jones will be match fit.

Suppose he'll be a good match up for Akinde though - he doesn't do much running!

Just heading out. I said 2 weeks ago that after the Luton performance I was confident we'd pick up all 3 points today and I remain confident so long as he doesn't start Harrison bbolt

3-1 pools with James to finally get off the mark

If Dagenham manage to beat 10 man York this could be a defining day in the season

All 4 goals were crackers but rob Jones made all the difference, immense at the back. Just like having margin back.

Don't remember the last time i was so satisfied coming out of a ground

'kinnel. Martin Allen says, "They (Pools) looked stronger... and much better physically and mentally... they overpowered us."

This current lot overpowered a Martin Allen side? That's a step in the right direction. Sounds like Rob Jones has put a bit of backbone into the side.
Good to see Hawkins do well.

Can guarantee he'd be posting now if we'd lost.

At least he doesn't talk about his prediction all the time
