May'be the Football League should fine them £35 million so that they have to go into administration again and then they will start the season with the -10 points they should have done.

That would be a 20 point penalty which seems a bit harsh. Administration is after all a legal business strategy. Arguably there should be no penalty at all.

Still if it's a 10 point start you want I'm sure yer local bookie would give you odds on finishing less than 10 points behind LUFC. You could then collect your winnings and a moral victory. Sweet!

They aren't even OUT of Administration yet. If they get fined, the fine'll just be written off with the rest of the debt and no-one will get anything, not even the 1p in the pound. confised

why is everyone getting so excited about LEEDS yes they have a big ground with a big fan base does this still make them a big club confised .

at the end of the day they are in the same league as us now so we both start off on a neutral footing.

I think you'll find our history helps timmy.

I do hope you're going to remind every other club in Div 3 that we're on neutral footing cuz from what i've seen on Rivals so far, we've got at least 40 cup finals to look forward to.

Bring it on I say - can't wait mesen.

No shite here mate. We all know at ER we have to graft too and we're under no illusions of whats ahead. Well at least those of us that have paid through the nose at home and travelled up and down the country to watch the shite we've endured the past few seasons do. Lets just hope the management and players do too.

I have every respect for Notts Forest and very much look forward to that and almost every other game next season.

*champs on bit*

Just gimme some fooking football. confised

I always hated Leeds, but it's amazing how you can reel off a list like that Chip. I could have done it as well. The only other non Pools team I could have done the same with was the '66 England World Cup Final team. Maybe that says that I am more of a Leeds fan than I care to remember to be. I certainly couldn't do it with the great Liverpool teams of the 70's, or the Forest teams of the 70's/80's or the Man U teams of the 90's.

When we're big we're very big and when we are small . . .

According to The Times about 6 months ago we are the 4th most successful club in the UK after scousers/mancs and gooners. This is based on points gained in the top flight, european games played, trophies won etc.

None of this counts for owt of course - we are in Div 1 on merit and will only get owt of it on merit (hopefully at some point).

What it does explain though is why we end up in the interminable arguments about relative size!

For myself I care little for these arguments but being old enough to have watched Revie's Leeds I know that I was privileged to see (arguably) the finest English football team of all time. That is why everyone remembers them and not the scousers who were (imo) always boring to watch. Everyone remembers Best Law and Charlton for similar reasons.

This season is one of real hope for me and I can't wait for it to start.

i think it depends how old you are. for some of a certain age leeds united were the top boys. when i was a kid they had the best team in the land. sprake, reaney, cooper, bremner, charlton, hunter, lorimer, clark, jones, giles, gray. sub madeley.

a team of internationals with a bastad of a manager in don revie. there was them, liverpool, man utd and arsenal.

to me they will always seem a bigger club than the likes of forest and sheff wed.

i still cant believe we are in the same league as them.

i love leeds me for the same reason they were the bomb during that era man. my second club, but i still want to beat them as much as i wanna beat gillingham and a defeat to them will hury just as much as a defeat to gillingham - no more no less coz of who they once were.

Working in Leeds I always find it amazing the amount of people walking around the town centre in other footy tops, especially Man Ure, given the fact they are a one team city

I am disappointed rather than surprised talbot.

Without wishing to offend anyone Leeds is a cosmopolitan city in a way that Newcastle (for instance) is not - lots of folk live and work in Leeds who have no allegience to Leeds. In my experience you only hear scouse accents in Liverpool - Leeds is different.

Being a one club city is also a disadvantage imo - gang rivalry drives up attendances. Sheffield being a good example of this imo. But also Newcastle - although a one club city I reckon gang rivalry (with makems) is a big motivator.
