Have won 10 on the bounce now  confised Or to put that into context they have collected three more points in the last 10 games than we have all season.

It could be a good time to play them though, they aren't going to keep winning every game are they!? Bring it on :o bbolt

What will happen is we'll play well then lose to a last minute winner, then Northampton will lose their next game.

That's just how we roll

Just got to have a proper go at them and accept that getting anything out of this match is a bonus. They're on a superb run but that won't last forever.

When defeats look certain is normally the time we put on a performance. If hignett somehow sorts a formation out where we don't get over run in midfield and bates and Jackson both play well for once in the same game. Pools being pools will beat them.

One thing I love about football is the way it gets you to cling to shreds of hope no matter how irrational they are.

We should get stuffed....it's a funny old game though....you never know....it would be typical of us to pull off a shock....I reckon they're overdue a defeat....we'll probably win.

I'm looking forward to Saturday now.

Think when i had a quick look at their form over the last 20 games or so they had won 17 of them with a draw and loss both being against MK Dons in the Cup. Something like that anyway.

Generally only win by a single goal though which is quite surprising, so more than likely a tight game than a thrashing.

Might be some very good odds for a home win thats for certain.

Suprisingly the bookmakers dont make it a foregone conclusion.

365 have Pools at 7/2 with Northampton at 4/5.

I think we were 5/1 to beat Oxford at hom if memory serves so clearly the bookies think we have improved under Hignett.

i was expecting 9/2 at least to be honest. Mind the bookies do seem to continually be overpricing Northampton in my opinion when you consider their form is nothing short of outstanding.

The game at there place they were nothing exceptional but very efficient in the way they played. They could have been out of sight after 20 minutes but it was 2-0 and for the rest of the game they just saw it out and were happy to conserve. If I remember right they were very dangerous at corners and we really struggled to deal with them.

Agree with above post but the main reason that their corners were a problem was jonjo O'Toole he fouled Adam Bartlett every time mostly unpunished

Long as Pools rip into them and heads don't drop if Northampton score I'll be happy. I've not seen us play under Hignett yet and just want to see a committed performance and some signs of organisation and a game plan. And a home point, minimum!

2-2 Paynter, Walker

In the three games hignett has been in charge we should of had two victories and a draw. Granted against very poor opposition but its a start. He cant work miracles but we all know what the Vic can be like when backs are against the wall.

We've conceded 6 in them 3 games, half them goals have been after 80 minutes. We've played better in them games but we're undoing the hard work at the death so with a bit of luck we can start by putting that right this weekend.

Or just Bartlett is terrible as coming out for set pieces. He's not the tallest and certainly not commanding.

Down at their place if I remember rightly, Northampton should of had about 5/6 in the first half without breaking a sweat. Our only outlet was the long ball with Bingham's pace. Records can't go on forever though so hopefully we can get the win. God only knows how badly we need it

I expect that to change as hignett gets to work on the fitness of the team, which seems non existant this season.

Lads like brad walker should be able to run through a brick wall at their age, no excuse not being fit enough, got all the facilites, knowledge, technology available to be a machine.

2 things that any football team should be at pro level is organised and fit, we can lack all the ability in the world, but any team should be able to achieve them 2.

I still can now at 30. Mainly because if I can get enough momentum to start running I really doubt a brick wall would be able stop me!

Ah, now I understand Brad's strangely ineffective running action. They've fitted him with bionic hips but not got around to the legs yet.

Maybe Yubep forced Brad Walker to try and run through a brick wall and that's why Brad has went a bit downhill in recent years. #YubepOut

If it's any help to Brad Walker a Polish guy and I once knocked down a wall in London when I was a labourer in 2007. I could be his adviser. Only thing was, I was using a sledgehammer, and he would have to literally run through it. Might help like, you never know? Could be like the mush off limitless who identifies the weak points in the wall an'na.

Enjoying this. 0-0 at half time and it sounds like we're at least having as much of the game as them. Two possible penalties as well, be interesting to see them on the highlights.

We played well today and when you consider how they have been going and to say they could not win the game today because they didnt have a shot on goal so for a team top and winning 10 on the trot you have to say well done pools.
I believe looking how things have changed since moore left it bolds well for the Future.,

More than matched them today. Don't think either keeper had a save to make mind.

Good all round performance and formation worked well I thought.

Thought Carroll did very well and looked comfortable.

Carroll looked so much better today than the last few times I've seen him. Thought Featherstone too looked very good today. Composed on the ball.

What a difference a bit of training does, we looked a lot better and probably deserved more than a point. Brad Walker should have had a shot in the second half instead of trying to pass it along.

Was their player as far offside as he looked when the female Lino didn't raise her flag?

Happy with the point today, and would have gladly taken it pre match, but I feel a tad flat because I think they were there for the taking.

I see Hawkins made way for luke James. He was outstanding last week at Luton so he must be a little disappointed to have missed out.

We seem to have decent squad of players a available now with options on the bench but need to scoring though....and quick.

We scored 5 goals in 3 games prior to playing 'the best' team in the league yesterday.

If we defend like we did yesterday for the rest of the season we will get more than enough goals to beat teams!

You would be forgiven for thinking Featherstone was the worst player to ever step foot on the Vic on Saturday if you listened to those in the Mill House. stpid

Seems like a regular feature of Hawkins season so far. Play well, get dropped. Walker was blowing out of his arse for the whole of the second half, not sure why Hignett took so long to make the change.

Walker wasn't blowing out of his arse for the entire second half, he tired towards the end of it. He worked hard and more than once in the second half he worked back and broke up play. He'll only get his match sharpness, fitness and confidence back by playing and the manager showing a bit of faith in him it would also be nice if sections of crowd who decide he's going to be rubbish before the games kicked off would give him a chance as well.

The whole team deserves to have a clean slate. I cringed at the sight of that midfield at kick off, but was pleasantly surprised by the end of the match. Still prefer Woods in there somewhere like.
