Diving through town yesterday with my oppo when he suggested a visit to Morrells, I had to park the car up in Lister Street and while waiting watched an elderly man pushing an even more elderly lady in wheelchair down the middle of the road while she held an aluminium walking frame above her head, her arms erect pointing it like an aerial.
Why ? I haven't got a clue, but it brightened my day.

The instruction from the owld gadgie to the woman will have been something like: "Make sure yer don't scrape it on the floor we don't want to scratch the bastard".

Hopefully Hartlepool will always full of characters and eccentric behaviour. I used to play footy with a builder who had worked all over the place with people from everywhere, and said that every single Hartlepudlian he had met was crackers, and were generally off the scale compared to average nutters.

I've spent a few away game days in London with some utterly radged Poolie exiles, which confirms it for me.

All of my mates who've come up for a weekend have remarked at how seriously we take our drinking, and how refreshing it is how few fooks people give about what others think of them.

Particularly a lardy lass who decided to squat down for a piss behind a lampost in the middle of the Gem car park early one summer evening, whilst it was still light and loads of people were walking past.
