For no other reason than law of averages says we are due a win at Luton, Have we ever won there ? Yes, it's come to that, I'm preying on 'law of averages'....

Notts County got their first win at pools since 1959 last night and so I have every confidence we can do the same on Saturday bbolt

Mind, I think the same every time we play at Northampton and when was the last time we won there confised

If he puts the team back to a winning one of players in their proper positions then we have a chance.

Magnay looked to be trying his hardest to make sure never in centre midfield again. Jones and Richards poor. Woods was awful for majority too

Jones did well the match before but wasnt up against a winger as such, he was found out last night. Solid Centre back but he aint a left back and his distribution is shocking. I like him in a back 3.

Its nailed on Magnay will start right back next game, shame he or Duckworth cant play left back to be honest. Would imagine the same team that started the second half would start against Luton in the 4-4-2, Gray did well on the right too. Maybe a change at left back?

I know Hignett has said he won't be bringing in any loan signings, and I hope that one of those sound bites to give the lads some confidence but jesus our midfield is poor in the extreme.

Magnay has basically asked for and played his way out of there, Woods is a lad from non-league football who looks like a lad from non-league football, Gray is good but needs someone to support him and I don't think that player is Featherstone.

Featherstone might be our best option for a defensive / holding player but that doesn't mean he is a good defensive or holding midfielf player. For a start his lack of any ability to tackle or head, his total disregard for shooting (even defensive midfielders can weigh in with the odd goal), and he isn't the most mobile to cover the ground.

Surely with even a half decent midfield we would be 10-12 pts better off, we'd have won last night for certain, probably not dropped 2 pts to Cambridge, wouldn't have allowed Exeter or Stevenage 3 of the easiest pts they'll ever get away from home.

Hignett must see that, and i'm sure he does, and will be desperate to get into the loan market and bring in a couple of central midfield players.

If Gary Coxall does read this board then make it your priority to show you are serious about the club and instead of providing free travel for fans to watch us get repeatedly beatten away from home and ultimately relegated, bring in some really good loan players who will make a difference not just add numbers to the squad. They are out there and they will come but it will cost money for loan fees etc and not just rely on the generosity of local clubs to pick up the wage bill.

Let's assume Daggenham have gone. In the last 6 games York, Yeovil and Newport have all secured 10 points and are 7th,8th and 9th in the form table, just below play-off form, indeed the last 10 games they are all in comfortable mid-table.

They have made 6 pts on us in the last 6 games and we are bottom of the form league table league table over last 10 games and 2nd bottom over last 6 games. The momentum is with York and Yeovil and we have to reverse that, however, Hignett can't polish a turd and our midfield is a big festering pile of poo.

I thought Hawkins did a good job in there last night. What has happened To Laurent. Signed by Moore played a few minutes and didn't look out of his depth but was hard to judge and now can't even get on the bench.

As far as Central Midfielders go we have Gray, Featherstone, Woods, Walker, Laurent, Abby-Nelson and Hawkins. Along with Magnay & Bates who have also played there for us this season. That's not even including kids like Green.

That has been some terrible recruitment hasn't it? That with potentially 9 players for 2 - 3 positions on the books and we still need to strengthen that area. It's not Hignetts fault obviously but hopefully after a bit more time on the pitch he can start getting the best out of what we have got. I think it's obvious he feels we need a proper ball winner in the middle why else would he of put Magnay there?

Looking at Lutons home record, it seems on paper to be one of the more winnable away games we have.

If we turn up for the full game that is

I'd honestly stick with 4-5-1. I don't think the formation let us down first half, the players were just really, really shite. Our best football this year has been played in this formation, and with the midfield we have we can't afford to play 2 in the centre.

The only reason for me 4-4-2 worked in the second half last night was because we had the wind and that made it far easier to sustain pressure when they couldn't clear their lines.

Also I completely disagree with the comment about Woods being a non-league player who looks like a non-league player. He had a bad game last night granted (he was far from the only one), but for the most part he's been one of our better players this season.

I also don't think Jones has done a bad job at left-back since coming in, he's far better defensively than Carroll is. He's not the long-term answer but I believe he can do a job for the rest of the season.

no such thing as law of averages,if you toss a coin 10 times and it lands on heads every time, what is it likely to land on next?answer 50/50 heads or tails.
Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

I look at Woods and think what does he actually contribute.
