I'd prefer Lee Clark.

Still can't get my head around why Humphreys is viewed with such contempt on here. Played hundreds of games for the club during our most successful period, two promotions play off seasons in League One. 9 of his 12 seasons were in League One and the three that weren't included two promotions and a play off season, how many million miles are we off that right now?

Plus I think he's got enough off to be a good manager if he ever wanted to go in that direction.

I don't think that thinking its a bad idea at this point equals contempt far from it

I agree but it was mentioned to me as a possibility so I thought I'd test the water on here.

'I'd prefer Lee Clark'

Is about as contemptible a comment as they come!

We all have to speak for ourselves PJ, and as we know Tree is well known for never ever exaggerating to make a point in an ironic or controversial way.

Having played under Humps I can assess his management style (Play on the Pitch game haha). anyone who makes the statement "Micky (Barron) is coming on at half time for the other team so we have to watch out for his superb distribution from the back" cannot be taken seriously as understanding the game :)

Actually Barron did come on and spent the half pumping long balls into the corners behind the full backs (classy) which to be fair against our half arsed raggedy bunch was pretty effective.

Humps came across as a nice enough guy actually (sorry Mr I get well soon) but I thought Barron was a bit up himself on the night

Maybe we've all got used over the past half dozen seasons to just getting by, surviving, generally being utter shite, that we don't see a future. We need something, but this situation is no the territory for a rookie manger to try to discover his potential.

That's possibly true, but Hignett who is widely reported to have got the job is a 'rookie' isn't he?

People like Eddie Howe were rookies when they started, one thing for sure that type of appointment hasn't failed elsewhere as most experienced managers have.

I think the games changed a bit do the players respond to an old school type of manager for a long period these days? I'm not sure someone should be dismissed because of a lack of experience in management (often failure)

What would be contemptible PJ would be the dream team of Collins and Hewitson.

I havent been this season but even I can see they are just as abig a problem as Moore.

I have very good eye sight.

I have nothing against rookies, but at this stage of the season we can't really afford to take the risk.
Anyway, the choice has been made, time to get behind it..

PJ I agree I never understand why Ritchie gets the shit on here he gets. For a start his PFA role would not go well with a manager role anywhere, so linking him as a manager was a non starter surely?

I have spoken to Ritchie several times over the years, I always thought you couldn't wish to meet a nicer bloke, always gave you the time of day, I stood talking to him once about 7 years ago on a Thursday afternoon for about 10 minutes and I had never met him before, at his testamonial night he remembered me from that and knew my name- the bloke was a good servant here, a bloody good ambassador and model pro and always seemed to love the club. Some on here just seem to want to swipe, it was characters like Ritchie and Tinks that made me get a season ticket-we lack them now although Luke James coming back and signing Barn-door Billy (Leeds fans affectionately always call him this -my mates one!) aroused a bit of interest but not like in the "glory" days.
