..... for the first time, we have a chance to have a clean break and not just bring in a new manager but new coaching staff as well. To uphold the tired old tradition of our previous ownerscof bringing in a new figurehead and carrying on with the same old faces behind the scenes is well past it's sell by date.
Root and branch clear out.

Not many Pools managers get the chance to bring in backroom staff.

Turner had West, Wilson had Butterworth and Cooper had Hignett. Everyone else seems to get stuck with someone already at the club.

I just thought of Paul Stephenson before you mentioned his name and looked him up. First team coach at Blackpool and for me wouldn't be the worst shout for manager.

Was highly thought of as a coach when at Pools and I'd chose the likes of him or Higgy over another Dinosaur. It could go pear shaped and we could end up with another Colin Cooper mind.

Can we also get rid of the PA announcer?

Absolute cringeworthy last night, especially his cheesy statement after Billy Paynter had scored.

Are you serious....? His command of the club after Scottys departure was hardly a roaring success.

I genuinely forgot he'd had 15 games in charge before Danny Wilson came in. The team were at a low point to be fair but yes I'm now withdrawing my support for him!

In the day, the club apeared to have the policy of recruiting a manager much the same way you'd run say a welding firm. One out , one in and seeing it as a straightforward swap.... football is a bit more complex than that.

Again though, hardly set the world alight here. Not a period I enjoyed ...not a period anyone enjoyed....... unless masochism appeals to you,

He did alright for his first three games culminating in the game against Huddersfield and Maidens stunner.
Then Turners return was announced . . .

He was there because of procrastination on the clubs part in not acting quickly enough to resolve the situation. I 'll be generous and say he wasn't very good in the role.

I think you do a decent job and it must be soul destroying attempting to create an atmosphere or any form of upbeat vibe, think you should try a joke occasionally, something topical say, " What is the difference between Pools and an Albatross"?, an albatross has 2 decents wings!
or name 3 teams with swear words in?, Arsenal, Scunthorpe and Fucking Darlington!

Scotty went after the Blackpool 0-3, water bottle fiasco. We then went on a five game unbeaten run(3 draws like) and looked like we had turned the corner. Turners return (as "Sporting Director" or some such) was announced after the 3-1 win over Huddersfield. The team then only won one of our remaining 11 games. I'm not saying Stephenson was any good, but I think he was undermined somewhat.

It boils down to would you bring him back as manager if you were chairman. I'm afraid if I was in that position the answer would be no, you may have a different opinion, but on this topic let's just say we have grounds to differ.

I genuinely and sincerely appreciate that. Although if you'd heard my real life 'patter' you wouldn't be suggesting I tell jokes!

In an attempt to not derail the thread, Higgy should be a breath of fresh air to the players. Cooper was very serious. Nice, but dull serious. Ronnie was shouty serious. Sweary shouty serious. Higgy has said in interviews he can be serious, but his nature is very much more lighthearted. I hope that getting the squad to actually enjoy their football can take away some of the nervousness that seems to show in games.

Its just too much 'Me Mark Page' for me (I know at Boro he used to have a little comment before reading each players name out - i.e "on the verge of an England call-up..Stttteeeve Vickers"). I know that a big part of it is helping to create an atmosphere, but I do think that can be done without the cheesiness.

I get the point but I hardly think I should be sacked for it!

Joking aside there is a reason behind it. It always shows a bit more knowledge of the club than just dully announcing the goalscorer. Plus you find the likes of sky and reporters that aren't regularly at the Vic actually use those lines on occasion after I have said them, which I must admit is an ego boost. People do respond better with something a little extra. Everyone knew Paynter have been out for a while but mentioning stuff like that, in the spur of the moment gets that little bit extra reaction.
Clichés and a bit of cheesiness seems to be a big part of Football reporting.
If it didn't get a reaction, I wouldn't do it. It's not for the sake of it.

Sometimes, Mr Spelk, people just love to be miserable. Don't listen to them.

Thanks, that's true enough. Although I don't mind explaining my reasoning for certain things I do.
It engenders understanding. Which usually gets me less grief
