If you read the article it says he has a groin strain so I suppose it's daft continuing his loan spell with only two weeks when he has no chance of playing.

For someone who's spent three years at a Premier League club his first touch is appalling.

Sometimes you just think, maybe we didn't see the best of a player and maybe given a bit of time and patience he could cut it at a higher level as our style of play didn't suit him. This wasn't one of them and he'd do well to ever get a league club again.

First game looked decent but downhill rapidly. Sadly never make a Prem player.

He looked decent in the Orient and Oxford games. Never looking like scoring which I suppose is a huge problem but his first touch and hold up play was very good.

Just another player who seems to deteriorate rapidly, like several others. Has jake gray really been that good the last couple of games? Certainly a lot worse than he was in the Orient game on TV.

Coaching is the issue for me

Aye the lad had an immaculate first touch a month ago then our coaches made his second touch a slide tackle all down to a few weeks training nothing to do with his own ability.

In hindsight he did well in that Orient game but all of his good stuff was down to his physical presence and work rate, he didn't show any technical ability or real quality. He's been at a Premier League club for three years I don't think we've transformed him into a dud in a few weeks he's probably just not good enough.

I'd agree there. Surprising lack of talent for someone from a top tier club. Like watching my niece [unsuccessfully] stamp on a party balloon. I mean that was his first touch was like, not how he headed the ball say.
Seriously though, I reckon he's just not interested and wants back.

Yet another loanee who turns up and after the briefest show of promise quickly shakes off any veneer of ability or fight and becomes just another statue.

We have players come in on loan and I think a lot of people expect them to change our fortunes on their own over night.

We want to be looking at the players who are playing week in week out and not performing, instead of focusing on young lads coming in on loan

People probably judging him on one bad forty five minutes in high winds and on a bad pitch, and a missed one on one in a League game.

I'd agree he wasn't Premiership class, and he didn't achieve as much as was expected, but people seem to have totally overlooked all the good things he did, and highlighted all the bad things.

He barely put a foot wrong in the Orient game ( first touch was excellent and showed lots of technical ability) , and he was decent against Oxford- had he finished that one on one people would probably have made him out to be a great signing.

Is it the players or the 'coaching' they receive, because it's becoming a recurring feature.

If Moore was a half decent Manager why has his Managerial career been confined to the lower leagues ? It has been said many times on here that last season the 'great escape' was assisted by 2 teams worse than us. 19 signings and still laungishing in the bottom half of the table.

I think Mandron showed some real touches of class on occasions (usually when he had no time to think about things), his main failing for me was a chronic lack of pace that stopped him getting to a lot of through balls.

Dunno about coaching but an ever changing team and formation wont help. We seem to be constantly switching from 4-5-1 to 4-3-3 to 4-4-2. I don't think its rocket science suggesting you will generally get the best from players who are playing in their best position in a settled side and a settled formation. At the level Pools operate I don't think the players are good enough or consistent enough to play in a variety of positions and formations.

My fault, I generalised in my use of the word coaching as a catch all term. Formation is an intrinsic part of the structure of any team. A bit like having a well trained and equipped army but clueless on tactics and strategy, in both cases you're gonna lose.
Moore is giving me the impression his team selection is based more and whim and fanciful expectation than sound judgement.

Ronnie Moore is old school, one of the last of his kind. He doesn't strike me as an tactical innovator or someone who eagerly embraces new thinking in the field of football coaching. I may be doing him a disservice but that's the impression I get and I suspect I'm far from alone. Moore's particular style has kept him in steady work down in the lower reaches of the Football League, and he has had some success. That same style is not something that is going to get a Championship or Premier League club beating a path to your door. You don't tend to see much old school at the top end of the game, and even those who are sometimes perceived as such are usually not, e.g. Sam Allardyce was one of the first in the country to adopt detailed statistical analysis and ProZone into his coaching methods.

They reckon Clough never discussed tactics, he picked 11 players and told them to get on with it.
It never ceases to amaze me watching the substitutes in the Premier league before they come on being given instructions with an iPad or notebook, WTF do they do in training all week ?
