My simulated draw (using excel so as not to waste time with balls) says Peterborough away. What a nightmare!

When was the last TOP draw we had in any cup ? Sunderland away ?!?!
Saw us get stuffed at Spurs when Gazza netted 4, also recall us playing Arsenal over 2 legs in the league cup...
We/Salford will probably get an unglamorous/unwinnable tie.....

Not really sure how it could have. At home to a good Championship side that we will most likely lose against and not make much money out of it. Very disappointed with that.

There were plenty of worse ties available but it's still a poor one. Very uninspiring tie, no TV money and mediocre ticket money probably. That's if we even get there!

If we beat Salford, and that's no formality, Derby won't relish coming to the Vic'. They have Boro away the previous game, followed by two home league games 3 days and 7 days after us, they may want to concentrate on the league, so may field some fringe players.
Thinking on the positive side it's a good chance to get into R.4.

Oh come on chaps. Salford will have to win this now, as the third round tie is nailedon to be on tv.

Think about it.

Salford have just put out Hartlepool, who used to be managed by Brian Clough.

They now play Derby who used to be managed by Brian Clough.

Salford are part owned by Gary Neville, the manager of Valencia and future Man U and England manager.

Therefore its the tie to sort out the best manager of all time.

Gary Neville, who isnt the manager of Salford v Brian Clough, who is dead.

Nailed on.

So you've seen the script as well ...... wonder who's doing the sound track and the compulsory mini series featuring some local musical celeb, obviously Salford have to get to Wembley with even the Queen cheering them on.The film will no doubt follow, the book and the Knighthoods.... it's a miracle.
Let's make next Tuesday piss on the parade day eh...?

Echo the thoughts that it's a terrible draw.

Unlikely to be really any significant income from a big crowd, no chance of being on tv and most likely get absolutely stuffed. Those people who said they could well rest players, it would still take a mammoth effort from our players who are useless regardless who they play (unless it's youth team or something similar).

They are a top championship side and sure they spent £10 million on butterfield and Johnson. Have likes of bent on the bench so yeh could take a guess at even reserves being pretty good

'Terrible' is a bit of an exaggeration surely?, Derby are averaging 29k crowds which is better than a lot of Premiership teams, so will surely fill the Rink End, also if it went to a replay would be a nice little earner for us with a five figure crowd at their place?

If we beat the team that is supposed to be way worse than us we get to play a team that are supposed to be way better than us. We'd be at home in January and I reckon that would give us an outside chance of pulling off a shock and getting to the next round. Not a bad draw in my book but I might be a bit old fashioned in thinking that there is more to the FA Cup than picking up TV cash.

Seems odd to me that so many supporters of a club like ours think the likes of Chelsea and Man United are the only good draws. The 'big clubs' are the reason for a lot of football's problems. Although the cash from playing one of them at their ground would be financially good for us there is nothing wrong with Derby at the Vic.

Would we really want to be going to a Chelsea and getting humiliated which this team surely would especially after bournmouth reserves tonked us. Home tie anything can happen especially if they rested a few.

They got knocked out of the league cup by Portsmouth so wouldn't write us off.

Manchester united v sheff Utd will take the place of the Salford love in. Its not the FA cup without the usual drab 3rd round ties of the big clubs being shown.

I'm guessing the ones likely for TV are

Exeter City v Liverpool
Manchester United v Sheffield United
Salford vs Derby if we get beat.
