Never again will I set foot in there!!!! confised
Inspiral Carpets and Shed Seven last night....completely missed Inspiral Carpets due to the queue to get in and then only watched the first 2 songs by Shed Seven and walked out....the sound was abysmal....totally unlistenable!!!! confised
I knew it was going to be bad in there but that was the worse I've known it....plus you couldnt even see the band due spotlights from the stage shinng directly onto he balcony!!!!

Never again!!!! rakxe

Must admit I was there on Monday to see the Courteeners and the vocal sound was very poor. Sounded very muffled when he was talking to the audience.

Saw Shed Seven at the Town Hall in Boro a year or so ago and the sound was awful. Been the the academy a few times and didnt find it too bad.

Is it really that hard to get a venue right? I've been to a few gigs recently in different places (Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield), and all the venues were spot on for sound, being able to go for a piss, and get a drink.

Christ, that doesn't make me feel any better.

I saw them twice at The City Hall, I thought the first time was 1978, but thinking about it, might have been later.

I wasn't mad keen on their albums to be honest but they were very good live. Was this the gig where The Vapors supported them ? Think first time I saw them The Dickies were the support band.

If my memory serves me it was, The Vapors were managed by Weller's father and also Bruce Foxton. They played the City Hall in 1979 too so maybe that's when you saw them. I saw them again for the last time in 1982 at Whitley Bay Ice rink

Seen the Mondays/Carpets a few years ago and the sound was dire. Sounded proper muffled.

Heard a few others having issues getting in last night. What was it about? Just the numbers?

Maybe I'm getting too old for gigs, but the sound at the Arena has been awful for the last 5-6 times I've been there. Much too loud & distorted. Is the "music?" supposed to pound in your chest, like you're running 100 metres?

We walked round the corner and couldn't believe the size of the queue so went back to the pub for half an hour then got straight in but missed Inspiral Carpets!!!! Looked like it was nearly a sell-out like!!!!

Sounds like it was your own fault for missing them

Yes it was and in a way I'm glad I missed them as I'd never seen them before and seeing them in there would have only pissed me off even more!!!! I'd seen Shed Seven 3 times before that night so at least I know they can and do sound much much better!!!!
