I've only just found this out, tickets go off sale at 2pm today if you haven't got one.

*waits for the Colon(el) to make a snide comment about bothering to watch two League Two sides slug it out in a shithole on a cold November day*

Common sense prevails.

Nobody wants people to travel all the way to Mansfield and be locked out of a sold out ground. It will ensure all spectators safety in what is always a highly volatile fixture were in the past up to two dozen teenagers in Stone Island gear have been seen posturing.

It's not about capacity it's about safety.

I'd hate for anyone to travel to Mansfield without a ticket and be subjected to having to walk past a skinny youth with scarf covering his kipper. Terrifying enough for those allowed to watch average fourth division football imagine after witnessing that being sent straight back home?!

Being half serious why on Earth would be this game ever be all ticket!? Field Mill on a good day is a third full, have they borrowed IOR's datebase...

They could have electronic turnstiles where you have to scan your tickets. So they would not want to sell tickets on the day as it may cause queues at their ticket office.

I remember going to chesterfield on boxing day and having to buy my ticket out of a burger van crossed with a caravan outside of the away end because they had electronic turnstiles.

Bit radged really, barcode-operated turnstiles, with people showing you what to do with the ticket.

It was the same last season, all ticket and we got 400 tickets but we didn't sell them all and yet 420 were there if I remember correctly. From what I gather they say its all ticket so they know how many to cater for with stewards and such but if any extra show up at the ticket office they aren't going to turn down cash

I wondered why the 'match day tickets' booth was open.

Makes sense them wanting to know how many to expect. I remember one game on a bank holiday nearly 20 years ago, when we took about 500. They had absolutely no refreshments, as they were expecting about 50 of us maximum. They had to relay trays of pies from the home end to placate the baying hordes of hungry Poolies.
