Something is happening with me and my relationship with Pools...

I'm beginning to find it less and less of a pleasure to attend home games and I've even missed a few already this year.

Away games have been a thing of the past for me for years now and, once having the BBC alerts on my phone for them, I don't even check those any more.

And then when we played Bristol Rovers on that Tuesday night, I didn't even realise there was a game until someone in the pub mentioned we were 2 goals down...

Anyone else seemingly losing interest? It's not a nice feeling...

Same for me used to do 15 away games now it's 1-2 i even walked out of the last 2 home games it's pathetic.

we are in a relegation battle

4 POINTS FROM THE LAST POSSIBLE 27 scoring 7 and conceding 17 Ron wharping on about his players, the simple fact is 4--3-3 is not working at all.Teams are having endless space down the wings killing us.With this form we will get 20pts max taking us down.

Season ticket or not i won't be sat watching that drivel over the winter.

Does that mean you will stop posting drivel on here over the winter as well?

Not bothered at all this season. Enjoying my Saturdays doing other stuff. After donkeys years with a season ticket it's a blessed relief.

Don't worry. Russ is currently working on his CEO of the year application, he'll be back on the boil again soon.

Have to agree. There has to be a point to it all. If we are not going to be set up to compete what is the point.

Same here. Only the setting up of the Supporters Trust that's keeping me interested. It'll come back I'm sure, and actually it's slightly better than last season as I didn't see a game in October 2016 that's how horrific it had got on and off the pitch.

Great post.

Although i support a different team i have experienced the exact same. Season ticket this season but after our derby defeat to oxford i have just about had enough. Going is now becoming a chore and actually relived i am working next few home games so someone else can have ticket.

like Hartlepool, any talent Swindon have quickly get sold but our current chairman has taken the complete piss in getting millions in and replacing with non league players. Fuck knows how and why i used to go to away games for years!!!

I am with bresslaw 100%.

I know. Shocking.

But there again why should I give me money to an organisation as secretive as this one.

Anyway. I watched some good football this weekend.

Unlike those that only watch pools.

I think the way that football has changed over the past 25 years is the main reason for apathy. The time wasting, diving, blatent cheating make even lower league football very frustrating to watch at times especially for regulars of 20 years or more.

It's not all bad though - 15-20 years ago we would struggle to get crowds of 3700 against Darlo and be lucky to scrape 2000 on a tuesday night where as this season crowd size has been decent in my opinion. Maybe in Hartlepool we just aren't suited to a quiet life in mid table whatever league we're in?

The thing with football is that is personal as well as supposed entertainment. The minute something like Pools - a historically unsuccessful football club - becomes remote from the community it loses everything. This is the part that Ken Hodcroft never got when he wittered on about 'the owners'.

I see people who have been fanatical about supporting Pools, people who have gone for decades who are now slipping away and becoming disinterested. I mean people like Parmo and Dibble; the likes of blokes who have literally stood on terraces in the rain at Southend on a Tuesday night in February and watched an awful game of football but now won't cross the road to see it. Once you lose the habit and the passion its too easy to drift away.

I don't think this is exclusively a Pools disease. There are many many clubs who have gone down this road. The alternative are the clubs who have full or part fan ownership. I bet the supporters of Exeter, Wycombe and even Darlo feel a greater affinity to their club that many Pools supporters and definitely more so that the premier league clubs, with the exception of Swansea.

You can add me to that list, John. I really can't be arsed. It's over two years now since my last Pools game. Hodcroft sickened me in the first place and nothing has happened since he allegedly left to unsicken me. The longer it takes to rekindle my interest the harder it will be to get me at games.
Funnily enough, whilst I was attending Pools matches, I also took in other games local to me. I don't do that now either.
