More bad news for 1883/Quakers or whatever they're calling themselves these days. Will they ever get back to Darlo!

Best thing that could happen if they want league football. No way that they could achieve that at the rugby club. There must be a more suitable patch of land somewhere in darlo!

We will be fine thanks. Not just Blackwell Meadows that is an option either.
As for Jesper, he helped turn a £400k deficit into £300k in the bank whilst we won two promotions on the pitch. Not a bad job from a volunteer.

By getting people to sign up and pay up front for 5 year season tickets....

A bit flawed that one if you ask me. I presume during every one of them seasons the club will ask those same fans who've already paid as they are the die hards to pay again in some guise.

I actually admire what the loyal band of Darlo fans have achieved, I doubt we'd achieve the same reading some of clashes even from people (grown men as well!!) who simply post on a different forum but it's my biggest bugbear with the whole fan owned model. It's like supporting a charity not a football club it's never ending as well, unless you have a big fan base or a major sponsor on board. Or somebody who is happy to let the fans run the show but put in a major wedge every year. If not it's only really sustainable at Darlos level without that and has a pretty obvious ceiling especially when you don't have anywhere to play. Having £300,000 in the bank when you don't have a ground is like trying to get mortgage when you're on the dole.

The 5 year ticket money is ringfenced. I doubt the fan owned model will see us back in the league, there are too many clubs with benefactors for whom money is no object, Salford being a prime example even at our level so its never ending fund raising. Getting back home will help with bigger crowds and more sponsors wanting to be involved. National North is a realistic goal once back in Darlo and if we get there I'll be happy.

You don't have anywhere to play that's graded for even that level though. This season realistically you can't actually progress however you get on.

What would it take to upgrade Bishop to that standard and would it be worth it in the short term?

If you ever get back to Darlo then I'd imagine it would mean you are in a position to get have ambition to get higher as you'd already have got your ground and have a former football league fanbase. Football stadiums cost millions, not a daft few hundred grand. I remember your reaction when people on here questioned the figures mentioned it would take to get back to Darlo.

The only place they could realistically play football at in Darlington in near or long term future is the Reynolds Arena, which is somewhat ironic really.

You are a true fan Loan_star and I hope you get want you want. My boss is a full blown Darlo/Boro wanker, he fluctuates between which ever team is winning that week, makes out that Darlo are the Barcelona of the North-East and goades me when we are losing, which is every week lately. Would love to punch his lights out but I would lose my job. Same old, same old on Monday when he can laugh at us losing and Darlo winning, full blown dick head!!!!!

This is another thing, they won today?

I Don't normally even know until I buy the the Sunday Sun in the morning (at the same point as I look at the Blyth, Spennymoor and Whitby result) which is a marked difference from when they were chanting 'we're so rich it's unbelievable' and 'we'll never play you again'

Again, quite ironic really

Loan Star- don't think you will be fine despite a few diehards doing their best. Jesper has done a great job which is sort of the point. The main man has decided to move on . If Blackwell is off then there's no current plan to move back to Darlo . They've got to level 7 & he's had enough. His words in the article talks about continued fan funding season in season out on top of what they're paying for games at the moment. Darlo are currently the club who charge the most for games in the Division & having gone along to see the home defeat against Marine with some mates there's not much more there that suggests on the pitch progress will continue. Only way forward perhaps is to talk to Mowden about going back to the Arena & paying rent to them. Currently 1000 through the gate for home matches but will that continue if progress stalls & things drag on at Tindale. Probably not.

do you want to swap Russ green for this guy? To turn the club round into a profit winning promotion twice in three seasons and genuine prospects to gain promotion this year too is nothing short of remarkable while playing out of town. I have heard strong rumours that boro are willing to help out ground wise is this true?

Wrong, Jesper was only here for the short term anyway.

Wrong, although we charge £10 to get in, there are other clubs that charge exactly the same, we paid £10 to get in yesterday for example. And because we lose a couple of games that doesn't mean progress can't continue, see yesterdays result and the fact that their fans were saying we were the best they had seen this season. This is the first season some of our players have played at this level so the more realistic fans amongst us aren't expecting us to steamroller nearly every team like we have done on occasions in the last few years.

Believe it or not, all the eggs aren't in the Blackwell Meadows option although for the time being that is the preferred option. There are other options not in the public domain but to be fair, I wouldn't expect you to know that. Just dont try and be the expert when you aren't aware of everything.

Even thats a new one to me! I would guess that if they did help out then they would want to use the ground for reserve team football.

Only two promotions to the conference now for darlo if they can somehow sort the ground issue out in the next couple of years. Football league might not be such a pipe dream after all.

Cant see that happening, too many clubs with backers willing to chuck silly money at their clubs. We will do well to hold our own in the conference with our current set up.

I didn't mean help build you a ground I meant a possibility of them letting you groundshare for a while.

Yes can understand that it will be hard but there will be buyers sniffing round further up you get. As for teams heavily backed Salford are behind you despite being backed well afc fylde who are quickly heading up the leagues then the conference which cant be all its cracked up to be now if Tranmere and Cheltenham are near the top. I don't think its quite the division it was.

Loan Star - not trying to be an expert but as someone involved with sport in Darlo & with relatives in the town I know options are very limited! As you'll know even the whole Blackwell site is under potential threat of development. Best of luck with it all & hope it works out but with Jesper gone & the Blackwell option stalling yet again I'm wondering where next. Yes, Jesper said short-term when he started but he didn't say how long & his announcement has come a shock/surprise even to some of the board apparently. There are rumours about something out near the airport but I've only heard rumours & nowt else. Your own fans were moaning at the Marine game about you being the most expensive so fair enough if that's not accurate. Next season is your 5th away from Darlo as you know. Is that sustainable? I fear not. Still think you need to be talking to Mowden or RA & share resources to help a number of sports/clubs in the town & enable 1883 to return.
