So it's Featherstone back in for Magnay, 4-3-3 and no word about whether Carson and Jones will get starts over Bartlett and Boyce.

Back in February we couldn't get a result down there with Mirfin and Tish in the side, so gotta say

2-0 to Northampton.

But football's a funny old game, so here's hoping!

You're right.

That'll teach me to keep sneaking a peek at the Bunker and OS when I'm doing hard sums at work.

Er, 10-0 Northampton?

Lost 5-1, worst Pools performance of a horrendous season. Incredibly bad in defence. 1-0 win tomorrow!

Northampton comfortable win. Team unbalanced and until formation changed and weak links removed we will struggle on.

442 created a lot of chances last week.
Just need the right players in the right positions to get cosistant performances.
And thats where the hierarchy should be playing there part to help Ronnie out.
We live in hope as usual.
Worst thing about the lack of ambition is that the division is shit and hitting a play-off spot will never be easier.

Apart from Carson Bingham who will come good maybe Oates.
Ronnies signings have been gambles as he,s had to replace shit with shit on a shoe-string budget ( same low wage bill as last season.

We,ve generated more income this season thru the turnstiles with the 40% increas in ST,s and a lot more fans paying on the day.

Speculate to Accumulate as promotion will pay for itself in
Bigger Sponsoship
A lot more S T holders
More than double the ammount of away fans with league one being mostly a northern based division.
Higher matchday revenue etc

Trouble is new owners do not have the money to speculate. This season has to be about finishing at least mid table. Next season will see the new tv deal plus IOR not taking a cut of this years budget to walk away. So should have better squad, if not we might as well be fan owned and self sufficient.

We last won there in 1969. We have about 25 bogey ground but this is one of the worst. Still we laid the York ghost to rest this season so here's hoping.

I've been about 7 times and saw us scrape a draw once. The last time was when Kevin Kyle was up front, and I vowed never to go again.

If they were bottom of the league with Jan Budtz in goal, Wayne Entwhistle and John Borthwick up front, and managed by Bob Moncur we would still lose there.

For me id play 4-5-1 as were away from home and in bad form, pack the midfield and focus on not losing the game. I'd take 0-0 and a point

I'd be well happy with a point. In fact, I reckon 10-0-0 is the best thing for us to do.

We're playing badly and I think they won last time out.

Pools to win 2-0 then obviously.

Is there a more characterless ground in League 2 by the way?

Concrete mess.

Missed the last few games for one reason or another so looking forward to going, despite the shit ground.

Very surprised it's the same back four, even more surprised it's the same keeper. Collectively and individually they were all awful last week.

We have been awful all season and that includes a few of the wins. At least there's plenty of time to escape relegation this season we already have four wins on the board.

This could end up 4 or 5-0 here...

Forget the season long afternoon ahead the way we've been defending I'd take 4-0 now.

He'll probably score a hat trick now the way it's gone for him.

Whatever happens that's an important goal.

Finally, Bingham.

Now to put the theory to the test...

The really worrying thing is that we've hardly threatened in the second half when 2-1 down.

As you are actually interacting with a middle aged man the luv bit really should be in inverted commas.

They were bang up for it from kick off and we weren't. The warning was there from the first corner which their lad should've scored from. The defending from corners was really, really bad. They looked likely to score from every one....as they did when coming forward for the first half hour. Really disappointing and then we're left chasing the game.

On a positive, I thought it was going to be a cricket score after first 20 but we did improve slightly and for a period after the goal we looked like we might go on and score again.

The second half was largely rubbish though and apart from the short spell after the goal (actually pretty damned short) I was really disappointed we didn't create more/anything.

If nothing else, at least Bingham scored.

Game was there for the taking in the second half as northampton came out and seemed just be happy taking the 2-1 win we should have punished them

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but seriously what did Ronnie see in training that convinced him that the shower of shite served up defensively vs Bristol and Luton was going to change by retainng all the back 4 and keeper in the team?

If Carson is fit why not start him for a start, and Magnay is out so why not go 5-3-2 away from home with Jones coming in to a back 3 and two wing backs, seemingly allow Carroll to play to his strengths, which are apparently going forward.

But no, Ronnie believes he's seen enough in training and we can go to Northampton, who he claims to have watched 6 times and knows they start at a high tempo, and match them and not lose with the same team that has shipped 7 goals in 2 home games.

What happens? We are ripped a new one, their best player is given loads of space to fire home in 4 mins and then from a corner our keeper is pinned to his line and the big goon in defence helps it in. Quality.

Any team scouting us will be talking about, crowd the keeper at set pieces, get at the fullbacks, and if in doubt lump it through the middle, get onto the shoulder of either centre half and just out pace them, because they can't cope with it.

In midfield just don't commit yourself too much and keep tight because they have no pace or creativity to get in behind us, don't worry about them shooting from distance they can't hit a barn door so just stay in shape and let them pass it about until they run out of ideas and give it to us to play with, oh but you can have a run at them because they can't tackle, and if you do fancy a break forward they will shit their pants.

And they have no width, can't deliver from set pieces and if you just keep an eye on the fast lad up front then it should be an easy day for us.

Nothing more complicated than that really.

Que this week lots of talk about the players manning up and growing a pair, big boy pants etc etc loans not coming off at the last minute, no one out there, tried every club on the planet, and twice, and still no joy while we lose in familiar style next saturday to a lad they signed on loan from Fulham or somewhere.

Before you ask no I wasn't there, but I can read and interpret what is written and because I have actually seen similar so very often I can visualise it and believe it to be true, and I have seen the goals on the telly.

Yes I am a little bit pissed of with it all and today I'll be mainly focusing on the negatives.
