Ronnie already concerned about lack of depth at Centre a Half... And now with Worley injured - do we need an extra body in for Tuesday?!

Try to push hard for Mirfin.... Take a gamble on a loaner or go with what we have?!

Mirfin started for Scunthorpe yesterday and they kept a clean sheet, so I cant see him coming to us in the near future. Pretty sure Dan Jones was on the bench yesterday after his injury and to be fair to Bates I thought he had a decent game yesterday. Maybe another experienced head might help, but Im happy with what we've got if Worley is only out short term.

The thing is we signed Magnay as a defender and he's now playing midfield (and doing a good job) so in theory we are another defender down, so our strength in depth is dwindling if you see what I mean.

Luck we've got Jones back but limited experience specially if Worley's injury is bad, lets hope its not.

In my book getting a defender in is less of a priority then having some cover in the attacking/creative midfield area.

Michael Woods shouldn't be playing two games a week having just returned at the back end of pre-season after a really bad injury. He's a terrific player at our level and completely fearless, but he looked tired at York compared to his performance against Morecambe.

Ideally he should be rested against Newport, but out of the players Pools have who can cover his position only Brad Walker has a decent amount of experience and I don't think Walker gets in the game enough to cover for Woods' work rate and commitment in a 4-3-3. Woods will probably play, but it would be very bad news if he picks up another long-term injury because he's being asked to do too much too soon.

I imagine Woods will play hence him being taken of at York, end of the day the physio staff and Woods himself can judge the situation better than any of us.

Agree about Walker, to me is a bit of a luxury player, to play him you need at least 1 Tinkler sort who can almost protect the defence on his own. Maybe Magnay can be that player but I would be a bit worried opposition would run through us too easily with Walker in for Woods.

Walker looked lean on Saturday, he has clearly been training with Richie during the summer.

No seriously, he looked in good shape almost like he's grown into his body. The lad had a lot of ability and potential. He's had one very good season and one were he struggled at times but I would put it past him having a good season he has the talent.

Woods got taken off after 84 minutes at York. I don't think missing the last nine minutes of actual play makes much difference to my original point, unfortunately.

I'm yet to be re-convinced by Brad Walker, he never looks at it enough - maybe he's the new Adam Boyd! It would be a real bonus if he did hit form though.

Collins said they took him off as we have a game on Tuesday.

Tommy miller first time around wasn't involved in the game all the time but he came up with vital goals. Walker is hopefully playing in a better team now I'm sure he will have his use this year.
