You ain't gonna believe this but until now I thought last night's game was the football league trophy and Sheff Utd was the league cup.

What's the FA cup called these days just so I don't make the same mistake again?

On the OS Pools have said the second round is seeded as well so its going to have to be at least a league 1 team. Seen as its based on last years positions as well the only team ranked lower than pools is Barnet anyway.

Manchester united away. Simply because that's the one that will make us most money.

Home tie against a North East team. Playing then away would be very hard to win, personally is prefer them at the vic were we would have a much better chance

One of the three North East teams at home. Plus, Sky would probably televise it.

Well maybe. I was at Ayresome in 1986, the last time we played them in the League Cup. 2-0 to the Borer - crap game, no atmosphere. Checking with ITMC, I'm amazed there was as many as 7,700 in.

They were in the Third Division at the time but walked promotion with a team that included Mowbray, Pallister, Slaven, Ripley - and a certain C. Cooper and S. Pears!

If Pools want a decent payday the Mackems and the Geordies are a much better bet.

Never Middlesborer away. The fans kid themselves they're a big club and really think it's below their dignity to turn up for lower league teams, they only turn out for the 'big' clubs.
If ever you want an away pay day, forget the borers.

Yeah I don't fancy Boro away, think it would be a crap turn out. Boro fans do my head in, see plenty of them about saying stuff like "We've got so and so" "We are linked with so and so" "UTB" etc..... Yet none of the fuckers go the games and they live in Stockton/Boro!

I don't know if they'll be in the second round draw - Europa League quali and all that - but I'd love to see Pools play at Upton Park.

Personal and selfish reasons - either Aston Villa, Birmingham, Wolves or West Brom away - then I don't have so far to travel.

:-)

Or for romanticism - Norwich or Bournemouth at home - both may struggle in the Premier League this season - we'll earn some coin and might just squeak through to round 3.

For purely selfish reasons, Derby County away.

Guaranteed to be a shite draw again though.

Anybody at home. Prem teams wouldn't get a big enough gate at home to make it a money spinner.

It would be terrible for the club Newcastle away, a share of a 40,000+ gate! Financially it would be the best draw possible even if the rarf count would be high. It would directly strengthen the team for the rest of the season I reckon.

Of the teams left in Everton or Villa away wouldn't be bad either both well supported and two of remaining big 'proper' grounds.

I hope not, holding out for a London based team like West Ham or QPR...as long as the tube strike isn't on anyway

Palace away to be greedy (and so I can actually sit with the away fans unlike our game against them in the Cardiff season) but since Pardew wants a good cup run this year it would be a tough game.

No such thing as an easy game really, anything can happen in cup games. I bet Brentford thought they would have an easy game and Oxford ended up putting 4 past em.
