Ok. Can someone explain something to me. One of the cricket experts.

Everyone claimed the Lords pitch was a shocker, yet there was a result in 4 days.

Everyone claimed the Edgebaston pitch was better yet it was over in 2 and a half days.

Now we have this and everyone is saying it’s a good pitch again. Yet there have been 13 wickets before tea on day one.

Surely history and facts will suggest Lords was the best pitch?

And at the end of the day, it’s a sporting event that is supposed to last 5 days.

How pissed off must you be to have tickets for days 4 and 5 of test matches now?

I have no idea who Dibble is.

And anyway,I dont rant any more.

Way too busy.

And now my original post is looking redundant,as I should have factored in Joe Root. Who seems to be better than the other21 players put together.

Is he now the best batsman in thew world?

This pitch wasn't even that tough to bat on, just needed to wait around a bit; 33-7 after 10 overs is ridiculous, Broad bowled brilliantly but Australia just seem inept tactically and dropping Marsh just seems ridiculous.

It's a good Test pitch an even contest between bat and ball. If you bat well you'll get runs if you bowl well you can take wickets.

Lords was too flat and too slow which makes for poor cricket. You can't just look at a score to asses a pitch it's down to the players applying themselves properly.

The Aussies batted appallingly, as they did in the last Test blame them if you have tickets for later in the match, not the pitch.

I reckon Joe Root could win this Test by an innings on his own.

Jonny Bairstow currently has a three run lead.

He's better than Kohli.

Another flat track bully, he should play for Australia.

Hard to call Steve Smith the best in the world if he's failed five times in moving conditions.

Did I hear it right that Roots 100 was the first time ever someone has got a ton on the first day of a test match?

Whilst batting second.

Also only the third time a player has scored more than double the other teams score on day 1 as well

There must have been 40+ records that went yesterday and all were against the ausies.

The most pleasing days cricket Iv ever had the joy to watch. Hopefully we set them something ridiculous like 500 and give the day 3 crowd some entertainment when we regain the ashes tomorrow

The only recent day that even comes close was the opening day of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne in 2010, when we bowled them out for under 100 and were 157-0 at the close. There were a few wonderful days in that series, but, with the fact that it was Melbourne and Boxing Day, that was always going to take some beating. Yesterday surpassed even that.

For me that was the best England side I can remember. Off memory the top 7 all got 100s and cook seemed to get 1 every innings. We tore them apart that winter
