Not too sure what to make of that, all but confirmed Paynter/Bingham is the preferred partnership.

Makes sense for it to be him - experienced, a talker on the pitch, etc. And not a goalkeeper.

Apparently this was announced on Sky Sports by Ronnie himself, as he interviewed the squad live on air, asking them about the Club and stuff! Wouldn't mind seeing that, but I'm stuck at work rakxe

Think part of it may be to make him feel loved again, and to hopefully get him back to the level he was a few years ago

Reading the interview on the website and you can tell it's a big boost of confidence that was seemingly desperately needed after Carlisle.

Not sure Mr Clough has ever predicted stuff at a decent level but it would be nice for him to feel loved.

I think psychology is the word you are looking for, possibly a very shrewd move by Ronnie. Hopefully this will make him stick his chest out and lead by example.

seals what everyone knew that him and bingham was preferred partnership but personally think it's not as good as having fenwick play.

fenwick is a goalscorer, nothing suggests that from paynter for me in pre season; aside from a penalty against billingham.

Moore has earned the right to name whoever he wants, I agree I would have Fenwick playing but Moore knows best.

Can't be arsed counting, but I'm sure Bingham's stuck more away in pre-season than Fenwick.

Paynter doesn't need to score provided Bingham does.

Decision makes sense to me - and I adore Scotty Fenwick.

One of the questions was what is the name of Pools chief exec and all they got was Russ. None of them knew Green !!!!!!

I rate Fenwick but its a squad game and am behind Ronnie all the way.
Having said that what a good sub to bring on.
Will cause havoc against tired defenders late in a game.

Add in a few good loanies and we lioking good for promotjon at Wembley.

None of the new signings knew Russ Green though... Is that worrying?!

So people are concerned that Russ Green isn't well known to new signings?

Isn't this exactly what we've wanted for years?

Can everyone on here name the chief exec of the company you work for?

I did ask a question as I genuinely don't know if it matter whether the players have heard of Russ. I just find it surprising. It's not that big a club. My company is bigger than pools and every single person knows every other person.
Doesn't really matter tbh.

Wasn't Russ pictured with most of them when they signed up? Some of them said they hadn't even spoken to Ronnie, and all the work in signing them up was thanks to Russ..

Has anyone got any stats on number of goals Fenwick scored when he started compared to when he came on as a sub?

I recall him coming on at half time, possibly Stevenage when we lost 3-1, he scored after 2 minutes and should've had 3 or 4 more. Then you compare that to a game like against Carlisle where he was ineffective from the start.

I agree with Ronnie on this one

Only problem is paynter has not looked like scoring for us while Fenwick scored something like a goal in every two or three games. Can we afford to have possibly our best finisher on the bench? Ineffective or not if he gets chances he will get goals. He wont sat in the dugout.

Those players have only been in the job for a month or so. Most of them knew his first name...

Ronnie Moore is clearly taking a leaf out of Danny Wilson's book and leaving our best striker on the bench...

It is a very bizarre decision on moores part and even though he was the hero last year things can soon change with a bad start. I give it three games before fenwicks in the starting line up.

I highly doubt Fenwick will be in starting line up after 3 games if he's on bench Saturday.

Bingham is deemed main goal scorer and Paynter has just been named captain so it's pretty nailed on they'll be playing when available.

Fenwick struck up a good relationship with Bingham when on loan last season and seems strange for someone like Paynter to just jump straight ahead of him.

The bigger picture here is how a lot of those who aren't likely to make starting 11 have had a severely reduced level of game time during pre season when meant to be building the full squads match fitness up.

I think it's rather touching that the least bright element of our fan base have already found a new scapegoat before a second of competitive action this season. Good effort. It was always going to be tough with all of these new faces.

They'll have go some to surpass this, maybe completely dismissing lads before they've even signed? Start slagging them off at other clubs just in case they ever sign for Pools??

I think your onto something here PJ.

I would like to list the following, who are all an absolute disgrace to our future Blue and White striped shirt (no collar).

Febian Brandy
Joe Piggott
David Worrall
Bartosz Białkowski
James Berrett.

Twats the lot of 'em

who's making anyone a scapegoat? Maybe its not bright dropping a player who scores one in every two?

I think it's more a case of people are disappointed Fenwick won't be starting rather than wanting Paynter to fail?

Not seen him yet but plenty of people saying he couldn't hit a cows door with a banjo?

We have a young side, I'm pretty sure his experience will be essential.

quite a few actually. Mainly the muppets on the Facebook page, taken a dislike to him because a) he got the captaincy and b) Fenwick is on the bench.

I personally trust Moore with this decision. Yes Fenwick scored some important goals last season but he was also blowing out of his arse after 50 minutes. Maybe after his injury and his FIRST pre season as a professional Footballer he isn't fit enough? He has been doing some extra sessions too in a gym in Newcastle which may suggest he still isn't fit enough for a Football league player? Even if he isn't starting because Moore has brought in his own strikers, who cares? He's still going to get plenty of game time.
