Me and our lass and the bairns are in the Cotswolds tomorrow, and its going to be hoying down all day. Does anyone know of any indoor places that are worth going to? Museums or whatever? The bairns are 4 and 7. I have a mental age of about 14.

What part of the Cotswolds will you be at?

I may have offered to show you around but I'm flying out to Budapest tomorrow afternoon.

Ta for the offer, we're in Cirencester.

Blenheim palace sounds canny Compo, I reckon we'll go there.

Blenheim could be the best bet, although rain won't improve the views of the outside (probably the most impressive bit), or the maze. It's got a 15" miniature railway and a butterfly house which the kids might like as well as the historic stuff.

I had two other decent suggestions for venues around Cirencester, but none of them open on Fridays - down here we do tourism to suit ourselves, not the tourists!

Your weather forecast is not wrong so far!

Cheers Elmo. The drive will kill a bit of time too.

Drive through the village and enter through the Woodstock Lodge gate thats at the end of Park street. Found it once almost by accident and it cuts out the lengthy queues you get at the main entrance.

Check it out on Streetview first as its very narrow and you will assume you have gone wrong!

The Cotswold Motoring Museum sounds too good to miss.

"Though the main focus is on motoring, the Museum is full of the everyday paraphernalia that made motoring so popular including picnic sets from the 1920s, alongside caravans, radio sets, gramophones and knitted swimsuits."

And you can do brass rubbings of Brum.

I was going to add the Cotswold Motoring Museum at Bourton on the Water, interesting place to look round, but wont fill up a whole day.

Bourton on the Water is a nice village with model village and very scenic, but you'll need the weather forecast to be wrong to make it worthwhile

Thanks people. We did the motor museum in Bourton not long back, but we did go to themodel railway thing in Bourton today which was ellish and we all loved. Three massive layouts which would now be called 'interactive', ie loads of buttons you can press to set the trains off.

We also went to the mechanical music museum, which the kids loved - loads of music boxes and primitive jukeboxes and self-playing pianos and stuff.

I reckon it'll be Blenheim on Sunday as it will be pissing down then too.

If you have a sweet tooth and can be bothered to drive the extra miles, go to the Pudding Club in Mickleton. Not your usual restaurant:
