Playing for spenny today. Been on trial with them for few weeks. A spenny fan said he has been poor. From what I saw, he touched the ball about 10 times in the first half

Ten times in a single half; that's almost Gareth Bale standard.
Is it really 12 years since the youngster scored on his league debut? They're not kidding about a footballer's career being short.

Surely, not, he turned into fucking Roberto Carlos when he left according to some on here.

Terrible player, file under Istead, Foley etc. Could run dead fast but useless.

Didn't even realise he was playing and I was at the match.

Useless. A winger who couldn't put a cross on a pools coupon

A bit harsh. Always an option going forward but fair enough, he couldn't defend.

We've had far worse players than Matty Robson.

That is also true but he had some good games for the club. He wasn't useless, granted a bit frustrating at times but definitely contributed more than the likes of Istead and Foley.

He was a player who would frustrate the hell out of us fans, some weeks he was roberto Carlos some weeks Peter Owens. Mind he should have stood out yesterday but didn't.

He's still had a decent career he's played over 350 games at football league level, you can't compare him to Istead and Foley who didn't actually make it at this level.

He is only 30. Surely he has to be better than that level.

He put in that free kick about 5 minutes in and their bloke missed pretty much an open goal. That was the only thing he did first half

I liked Matty he was a decent pro playing at his level and like many inconsistent fair play. Far better than Istead Foley McKay etc. Must be better than Spenny standard still surely.

Some players respond to the team around them, which is no bad thing. I found him erratic but talented.

If you were to compile a list of things to complain about at Pools over the last decade, Matty Robson would be well down the list.

Some Pools fans have an inexplicably complicated relationship with Matty Robson. There's no obvious way of accounting for it. They even booed him when he came to play at the Vic after his transfer.

I remember him having a couple of outstanding games at the Vic.

Just a shame he wasn't playing for us at the time.

Come on then, lets have your long list of better players than Robson in his position. And it had better be current. I too remember the Westgarth years, just as some Blackpool supporters remember the Matthews years.

Young player of the year one season & also was in our play-off final team. I remember Matty playing alongside Sweeney at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup in a last minute 3-2 defeat in a decent academy team when Man U gave free tickets to the away fans as the match fell on the anniversary of the Munich disaster. Not many who have been much better than him on the left -side since he moved on.

Just remembered Matty put away a pen at Tranmere in the play-off shoot too & put himself forward for the first 5. Credit where it's due. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=ypu ... B4E246EAFC

Matty didn't just step forward, he did so in a manner that threw down the gauntet to the other players. For me, it's one of the best shoot-out penalties I've ever seen.

How bad was Tinklers penalty? Credit to Robson stepped up scored he was just a young lad at the time. Ritchie was looking lean too.

Did n't realise you went that far back Monty. I started about 1959. awful times. The stories about match fixing.... players banned for life. The club a laughing stock.
Allegations about back-handers when Gateshead left the league. Inland Revenue investigations. The Ord family. Wrexham 1-10.Grandstand fires.
We've had a fab 15 years. All of us... and we've got tons to be thankful for. Could have been Darlo..or twenty others.
Matty held his own in the best squad we probably ever had. Give the lad a break, he probably needs it right now.
